#1zombiegleemaxAug 09, 2003 10:21:02 | Does anyone else out there see the mystic / sorcerer / mystic theurge combo as being quite powerful in dragonlance? Neither core class really gains any features beyond 1st level, so advancement into a +1 / +1 spellcasting prestige class is not disadvantageous. Plus, I can see the above combination as the final vindication of ambitious mortal spellcasters ( in the Raistlin Majere tradition ), a mage who stands against the gods without the risk of being stripped of his / her power. Especially considering that a PC mystic could cast miracle to imitate any mage spell of 7th or lower level, at no XP cost, and without having to OK the terms of the miracle with a deity. To make myself clear, I don't think ( as a regular player ) that the above prestige class combo is a bad idea! The whingeing we've seen on the D&D boards recently ( especially by DMs ) about the mystic theurge,a PrC that at last gives some equality to multiclass arcane / divine character concepts, is nothing short of extraordinary. Bring on the innate-casting archmagi of Krynn's Age of Mortals, I say! |

Check it out: Mystic Theurges of Krynn Basically, the Mystic Theurge isn't the best combo for focused (godly) spellcasters, but they're fantastic for the sorcerer/mystic combo you mentioned. Anyway, I hope you enjoy the article. |
