#1zombiegleemaxAug 10, 2003 19:26:30 | ...check this out: Awesome. |
#2zombiegleemaxAug 10, 2003 20:15:17 | is that the new cover for legend of huma? |
#3zombiegleemaxAug 10, 2003 20:34:00 | According to the news on www.dragonlance.com it is. |
#4zombiegleemaxAug 10, 2003 20:41:03 | :DNow that is the kind of thing that is in my imagination when I think of Dragonlance. A very epic painting. The unfortunate part is that I've never been quite able to finish the book! I always end up starting another one while I'm reading it. Perhaps I'll go get my own copy when this particular version is released. The cover alone would have attracted me. Who was the artist? I'm thinking Stawicki, but I'm not %100 on that one. |
#5talinthasAug 10, 2003 20:47:44 | holy crap. that's amazing. |
#6lenin97Aug 11, 2003 8:05:39 | HOLY CRAP! *faints from dragonfear* |
#7brimstoneAug 11, 2003 12:38:55 | How about this one? It's the first artists rendition of a Shadowperson I've ever seen (beyond the black and white stuff from the modules). |
#8lenin97Aug 11, 2003 12:40:52 | Originally posted by Brimstone I love this artists work on Werewolf: The Apocalypse but it just doesn't seem very "Dragonlance" to me. Still awesome work though. |
#9zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2003 20:02:32 | I may be a little biased, but I am rather a fan of this one: More here... http://nwvault.ign.com/features/previews/DLA/ _______________________ .Robert *Dragonlance Adventures* www.dladventures.com DL-1 "Dragons of Despair": *Under Construction* irc.neverwinterconnections.com#DLAdventures |
#10talinthasAug 11, 2003 21:58:22 | that, my friends, is some really bad artwork. Unless some novel states that Pam Anderson likes to cosplay as goldmoon, i don't want to see art like this. the word gratuitous comes to mind. of course, elmore has hotties too, but there is a difference between his girls and this chick, who walked out of surgery. |
#11zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2003 22:04:30 | Wonders if talinthas is gay. Hehe I like that one, a lot. I had it as my wallpaper for a while. And not it is not because of the bust size. I think this is a good rendetion of Goldmoon. Her bust size is pretty much average compared to other fantasy art. |
#12talinthasAug 11, 2003 22:09:05 | heh. my girlfriend would be very sad if i was the point is that in this shot, the rest of goldmoon is tiny, so it just seems way out of scale. And her face, dude, looks like this chick failed a save vs botox or something... |
#13zombiegleemaxAug 11, 2003 22:28:45 | We are used to the pro/con comments on Goldmoon's bust size. It sparked quite a controvery when originally released :D http://nwvault.ign.com/Files/other/data/1050785736810.shtml I do think, however, that people tend to ignore the genre for which the art was created (a computer game) and also seem to discount the identical approach in most fantasy art. (For Aribeth its de rigeur - for Goldmoon, it's bad). In fairness, Elmore's tributes to SM queen Betty Page were no worse and his chainmail bikinis are now legendary. That was the 80's. Fast forward 20 years, its the same theme - different on the execution. Diverstiy of opinion is like diversity of artistic expression: both are good. However, if an aspect of an artist's approach bothers you, do strive to be a little balanced in your views on the work overall. There may be many things Henry Martinez is - but a poor artist is not one of them. |
#14talinthasAug 11, 2003 22:51:52 | Art is, of course, highly subjective. I choose not to like this particular piece, much the same as i choose not to like the novels Dragon's Bluff or Clandestine Circle. Just cause i don't like it doesnt make it automatically bad, but its seriously not my taste =) But i love the pics of solace you guys have. |
#15zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2003 0:59:38 | Speaking of Dragonlance adventures ... any idea when DL1 will be done? I love what has been done so far and am chomping at the bit to give it a try. |
#16GranakrsAug 12, 2003 6:27:30 | Not to be too critical about DLA's Goldmoon, but it's her eyes. They're too large, and look like Disney/Anime/manga eyes. And following that structure of art, the larger the eyes, theoretically, the "cuter" or "more innocent" the character is being depicted. On an elf, or even a Kender, heck, even a female draconian i'd find the larger eyes acceptable, even entertaining. However, on a human, as "wise" as Goldmoon, I find it more disconcerting than her figure. Just my thoughts on that. Granak Red-Silver Sivak |
#17zombiegleemaxAug 12, 2003 9:10:44 | In case anyone was wondering, the Legend of Huma piece at the top of this thread was illustrated by a friend of Matt Stawicki named Duane Myers. Very nice! |
