Should new players start at 3rd level in 3rd edition?

as its not specified in the 3rd edition rules for DS, should new characters start at 3rd level like in 2nd edition? Also, how exactly should the level adjustment for races like half giants work ?

I do not think there is a need for a higher starting level or higher attributes. These were just selling points of the 2E Campaign Setting.

Aug 18, 2003 14:55:09 		You don't need to start them at 3rd level, but it's a lot more fun right from the start. You can be much more mean to the PCs. More suffering before they die.
