#1AlzriusAug 24, 2003 16:13:35 | Well, I just got Dungeon 103, which had write-ups for four power-players of the Bright Desert, one of whom was Rary the Traitor himself! Reading through his description, I noticed that in the list of epic spells he can cast, there are two that aren't in the ELH (or anywhere else, that I can tell) named Rary's meritorious animation and Rary's superlative draconic animator. As I mentioned, I can't find a description for these anywhere, and though they might be in a future issue, the fact that the preview for 104 mentions paladins of Greyhawk makes that seem somewhat doubtful. Can anyone be of any help here? |

#3AlzriusAug 25, 2003 9:12:19 | The other three are Eliazir Razeem Azam'ut, Rary's apprentice (mh Wiz14 NE), Shemaya, the last human survivor of Sulm (the kingdom that the Scorpion Crown changed into the Bright Desert (fh Wiz 19 CG)), and Kumhaik, master of the neutral trading village of Ul Barak (mh Ftr12 N). The article also describes a new magic item (Ring of Teleportation) and two new monsters (desert troll and desert centaur). The article is seven pages long. |

#5zombiegleemaxAug 25, 2003 13:40:06 | Hey thanks for the 411. That articles sounds great. I can't wait for it! Regarding the spells, their titles suggest to me that one may have been used to construct Robilar's famous flying mechanical horse. The other may have been recently developed in response to the "Green Dragon's" killing of the blue dragon, sometimes called "Volt" - which was reported in an early LGJ "Campaign Update." |
#6AlzriusAug 25, 2003 13:57:08 | Originally posted by Tizoc That's what I thought too, but if you check Lord Robilar's description in the ELH, you'll find the construction requirements for his mechanical horse, and it doesn't need an epic-level spell for it. The other may have been recently developed in response to the "Green Dragon's" killing of the blue dragon, sometimes called "Volt" - which was reported in an early LGJ "Campaign Update." Probably not, but I can say that because I have the article here in front of me: it mentions that Rary builds constructs to defend his person, and that his most tasking construct, an artificial silver dragon, is nearing completion. That's probably what the spell is for. What I'm looking for is the complete statistics for these epic-level spells. |
#7zombiegleemaxAug 25, 2003 17:12:39 | Is there a listing of Epic Druid Spells? |
#8zombiegleemaxAug 28, 2003 21:42:31 | Yea, I was wondering where the description of those spells are myself as I didn't notice them being anywhere in the article. Maybe we are supposed to be creative or something. |
#9cwslyclghAug 28, 2003 22:22:06 | more likely they were cut out for space and the references to them were mistakenly left in. |
#10grodogAug 30, 2003 0:53:14 | Or perhaps they were intentionally named with no descriptions provided, in order to spur additional DM creativity :D |

We cut the spells because they did things similar to other spells, but forgot to drop them from Rary's spell list. Oops. Sorry about the confusion. --Erik Mona Editor-in-Chief Dungeon Magazine |
