Once again, thanks again for answering my question so hastily. I read your FAQ section and I noticed once again you point out High Sorcery mages don’t have to specialize but they loose Enhance Specialization. So my question then is this negates the Prerequisite that you have to be a specialist? I didn’t mind giving up two schools of magic since this is in the spirit of classic Dragonlance, I just didn't like being force to giving up a third.

I know I'm not Trampas, but...

I would think one could probably be a Specialist Wizard (like you are saying) but then wouldn't have to take the Extra Specialization...and therefore not have to choose one more forbidden school.

I think that would work with the "Generalist Wizard of High Sorcery" rule.

I'm not Trampas, but I might as well respond. You are correct - the "generalist" option in AoM means that a normal wizard can become a Wizard of High Sorcery. In fact, Dalamar is written up in this fashion. The "generalist" would get none of the benefits (nor hindrances) associated with specialization.

Edit: Brim & I think alike. :D

Hey you guys are great at reading through my typos. I meant to say "So my question is does this negate.... "

I hope the rule works out how you folks think it should. I don't think Dragonlance 3rd edition should be about limitations.

I think RPGs themselves are about options, but that's a whole 'nother discussion. Suffice to say, I'm very tempted to use the "generalist" rule, but I'm currently enforcing specialization for the WoHS. It makes DL magic a bit more unique, IMHO. Of course, we can all do what makes us happy. :D

As it turns out, the ratings went up since he started playing me, rather than me starring as myself. ;)

I don't have the AoM book, so am unfamiliar with the generalist wizard option. It seems logical that if one were to become a "Generalist Wizard of High Sorcery" that the specialization requirement of the WoHS prestige class is waived (and you don't gain the benefit/detriment of the enhanced specialization class feature). What of the other requirements for the WoHS prestige class? Do you still have to take the spell focus feat?

All other requirements remain, including spell focus.

Just to be "traels", danish word for being irritating in a certain way.

IF you are a specialist wizard, You DON't have to take the enhanced specialization???
Like the fighter is not required to take his bonus feats.

If you are a specialist wizard and you join the WoHS, then you must take the Enhanced Specialization ability. Likewise, you must drop an additional school of magic. Of course, you could make these optional as a "house rule".
