#1zombiegleemaxAug 28, 2003 18:04:57 | I saw a brief mention about this on another post. When is it starting? Where is any official info posted on how to get involved? I would be quite interested in getting my group involved in a Living DL!! |
#2zombiegleemaxAug 28, 2003 19:45:18 | Someone please explain the "Living *Blank* Concept, Ihave never understodd whatthe heck it even meant. |
#3zombiegleemaxAug 28, 2003 23:37:41 | A Living campaign is one run under the purview of the RPGA organization. It primarily consists of a series of adventures, usually part of one or more ongoing story arcs, released that can be run at registered RPGA events (many of these are at conventions, but frequently there are local RPGA groups that run regular get-togethers). A Living Dragonlance game would be one of these RPGA campaigns specific to the Dragonlance setting. Frank the Wanderer |
#4ferratusAug 28, 2003 23:40:48 | The RPGA is a fellowship of gamers who play various games set in "Living" worlds. Basically, it is a chance for fans to design adventures for their favourite settings, and play PC's in them. It will probably be the only way I'll get to be a player in a dragonlance game, given that I'm the only one who likes the setting. RPGA Here is a "What we do" What we do page for the organization, which will give you a breif explanation. |
#5zombiegleemaxAug 29, 2003 5:00:12 | If it ever gets an official go-ahead, I'd volunteer to join the staff in a heartbeat. I'm on the local staff and getting frustrated with the Living Greyhawk campaign. |

#8ferratusSep 04, 2003 15:54:18 | You can sign up to become a member of the RPGA, for free, on the website (see my previous post). |
#9zombiegleemaxOct 01, 2003 2:14:21 | Originally posted by CNEFD East Canada is the "Ket" Living Greyhawk region and West Canada is the "Tusmit" Living Greyhawk region. Visit the calender: http://events.wizards.com/rpgaweb/external/calendar.asp and filter by Canada. You should get a few conventions or game days show up. Contact the the person listed and go from there. |
#10zombiegleemaxOct 01, 2003 8:11:08 | I thought RPGA was going to stick solelywith Greyhawk, FR, and Star Wars. That's it..... |
#11zombiegleemaxOct 01, 2003 9:29:30 | I would really be interested if they decided to start a Living Dragonlance campaign...*crosses fingers* |
#12frojasOct 01, 2003 9:50:01 | I thought RPGA was going to stick solelywith Greyhawk, FR, and Star Wars. That's it..... This came up on enworld.org a couple of months ago. An RPGA rep came on to dispel rumors that the RPGA was going to do a Living Sovreign Stone or a Living DragonLance. Someone from Sovreign Press came in and clarified. Sovreign press is thinking of starting their own "Living"-like campaigns set in DL and in the SovStone world. FR |
#13zombiegleemaxOct 01, 2003 20:01:14 | Ah, so it won't be official RPGA. GOOD. *hates rpga. been shafted one too many times by their political inner-bickering and stuff* |
#14frojasOct 01, 2003 20:05:29 | I have mixed feelings about the RPGA. I quit playing Living Greyhawk when I had to call H&R Block to to handle my log sheets from adventure to adventure. They wanted you to keep track of everything, down to the last crossbow bolt. I hear its better now. That and the early LG adventures were not much fun for me and you got very little in terms of reward (xp, and gold). Though Living Force was a lot of fun. FR |
#15baron_the_curseOct 03, 2003 11:55:55 | Originally posted by frojas I can't stand the RPGA. Down here the local RPGA is call the Miami Circle. They are a bunch of staunchy, bickering, ****, gaming Nazis! I only speak for Miami though. |
#16zombiegleemaxOct 03, 2003 15:13:41 | Originally posted by Baron the Curse Baron, it's like that in many places (here in Tulsa for one).... I feel you man. |
#17baron_the_curseOct 03, 2003 17:47:44 | Magus, they must be overthrown... there time is near.... |
#18zombiegleemaxOct 03, 2003 19:34:44 | I agree.... *grabs my pitchfork and torch* When the clock strikes midnight, the evil will be purged!!!!!!!!!! |
#19zombiegleemaxOct 04, 2003 9:44:58 | Hmmm....this line of reasoning breeds a thought..... Maybe there should be a new organization of roleplayers. Not a restrictive, political machine, but a loosely-connected bunch of GMs who communicate on a regular basis... Why just give the role to the RPGA? |
#20NivedOct 05, 2003 10:50:19 | I'd run a Living Dragonlance (or whatever they'd call it since I supose 'Living something' is trademarked by the RPGA) game in a second. I really hope Sovereign does this. |
#21kalanthOct 05, 2003 11:03:20 | I would kill to run a living dragonlance, or play in one. That is the best way for a player to really influence the world. |
#22baron_the_curseOct 06, 2003 3:22:00 | Kalanth, give you’re players the opportunity to shape the course of Krynn’s history and they’ll feel like they are influencing the world without the need for the RPGA. |
#23kalanthOct 06, 2003 10:01:44 | See now, I understand what you are saying, Baron. However, I want to actually afect the printed world. I know I never will, but man oh man it would be nice to see something I did at home end up in print. |
#24baron_the_curseOct 06, 2003 12:51:48 | I know what you mean, Kalanth, that would be sweet indeed. |
#25zombiegleemaxOct 07, 2003 9:09:54 | I can't stand the RPGA. Down here the local RPGA is call the Miami Circle. They are a bunch of staunchy, bickering, ****, gaming Nazis! Hi there my name is Peter, I'm one of the founders of the Miami Circle down here in Miami, dude, if there are any problems with you and other players down here you can always e-mail me. We are constantly looking for new players to add to the mix, we have always invited all gamers & all games.. When I started this club (with Jim and Fito) we had a vision to create a unified gaming community where there was none.. Like I said I would like to talk to you about this and see if there is any way to change your opinion about us, as a club, the members can change its makeup. And the only way to create changes it to become active. Living Arcanis has taken my focus from The Miami Circle, but I still care about it and I still want to see the gaming community down here grow and grow, and become a place that every Miami gamer can come to for any game. For some it may be a dream, a club where RPGA players, LARPers, and home game players can chill out and discuss the things that unite us... We all like to game |
#26zombiegleemaxOct 07, 2003 9:18:31 | Originally posted by Baron the Curse Howdy folks I was alerted to this post by some informants. Being one of the The Miami Circle Gaming Nazis I'd thought I'd chime in on the subject. First thing, whoever you are we will hunt you down. And when we find you "No gaming for you, 6 months!" But seriously, I don't know what the beef is here but we as a gaming group try to put on game days and conventions here in miami. We are all working adults here and put on these games in our spare time. So that means that our selection of campaigns is norrowed down to LG and LA. And I guess alot of people find this limiting. Because they might want to play dragonstar or living death. Or because their work schedules prohibit them from playing on the weekend. Unfortunately we only have so much time to devote to gaming and usually that means playing on a weekend. I would definately like it if there was more variety here in Miami but we can only do so much. |

#28baron_the_curseOct 07, 2003 12:55:36 | Pedro, I would love to continue discussing this in the Miami Circle Boards if I wasn’t banned for disagreeing with GreenKnight! I’m also very upset at the way the Miami Circle treated Sunshine Role-players. Fact is the Miami Circle has a nasty reputation for strong-arming, cheating, and pettiness. It would be grossly unfair to label all its members as “gaming Nazis” so don’t take it too personal. I understand some of you might have very good intentions but over all I view the Miami Circle (and the RPGA) as a restrictive arrogant organization. |
#29zombiegleemaxOct 07, 2003 13:41:01 | I remember you... ... No there wasn't a disagreement. There was full on bashing of Greenknight. I know cause I was in the mix. I remember some of the things you and another said about this poor guy. As for Sunshine. The Miami Circle is currently, basically under Sunshine's control. All the Living games are run there. Out of all the stores in our city something like 95% of all the Miami Circle's games are run there. I'm so very glad that this came up. I'm starting up a DL home game and I was planing on inviting you. You have saved me the time of setting up a screening meeting. |
#30DragonhelmOct 07, 2003 13:54:01 | Guys, let's keep this topic Dragonlance-related if we could, specifically with the intent of discussing a possible Living Dragonlance. I know that there are mixed feelings about the RPGA, and it sounds like there are some private issues with the Miami group as well. However, this is not the place to discuss such issues. I would recommend posting on the RPGA boards for issues dealing with the RPGA. The Miami group is, of course, a private discussion and should be taken to either e-mail or the appropriate forum. Thanks, guys. Much appreciated. Back to topic! --Community Assistant |
#31baron_the_curseOct 07, 2003 14:24:35 | You couldn’t possibly remember me because I never used this name. I know Green Knight (Rene) personally and I know exactly who did the bashing. I also know how one of your founders threatened one of my coworkers for disagreeing with the Circle. Lucky for him my friend shrugged off his challenge (his a big metal-head biker type). I’m not interested in your Living Dragonlance game. Now out of respect for this Board if you want to further discuss this contact me via e-mail (hitmarkv@earthlink.net) or get in contact with me through Joel (my name is Richard). |
