#1coyote_skyheartAug 30, 2003 16:26:00 | Hi! I've DM'd for awhile, but soon I'll be taking my first stab at running Dragonlance. I played a game of it last year & fell in love with the world. I've never read the books, but I know the basics by now and have *almost* read the DLCS from cover to cover... Its quite a bit of reading. Maybe with more time I'll have a chance to start reading the novels. I know my players are going to be familiar with the stories, and I don't quite know where to begin to make a dragonlance-style plot. There's so much to learn. Could anyone help me? I'd like to do something on the high seas, and the draconians look like fun enemies. I'll be starting the characters fairly low-level (avg. 3rd) I was thinking maybe there's something various rival groups are looking for so I could bring in all the different factions and try them out, but I don't know how to tie in the history. Oh, and those twin sister white dragons from wizard's supplement page look like fun. hmm, what else. Now I know that undead are fairly rare, and there aren't any lycanthropes or orcs - although I'm a little confused by a statement in the book that says silver weapons are common in Dragonlance because of the types of enemies they face. Any/all advice welcome! |
#2talinthasAug 30, 2003 16:42:02 | what era are you playing in? and if you want high seas adventure, it doesnt get any better than the blood sea rim area =) piracy with minotaurs, saifhumi, dargonesti, and folks from flotsam and the ogrelands... it all depends on your timeline. |
