#1zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 0:20:19 | Something that is consipicously absent from the DLCS are Racial Weapons. WHERE IS THE EQUIPMENT? I specifically need info on the following weapons. Desert Barbarians Kala Thorwing Blades Weighted Sash Ice Barbarians Ice Crossbow Ice Flasks Ice Grenade Throwing Stones Mountain Barbarians Bear Claws Pellet Bow Crook Blade Warpipe Plains Barbarians Throwing Sticks Sea Barbarians Belaying Pin Gaffhook Hookshaft Dwarves Caff Gapper Elves Armor Piercing Arrows Blunt Arrows Forked Arrows Leaf Arrows Singing Arrows Gnomes Gnome Pick Belcher Blunderbusses Gnomish Grenades Kender Battak Bollik Chapak Hachak Hoopak Polpak Sasik Sithak Whippik Minotaurs Forpann Kausin Mandoll Lajang Sanguine Shatang Clabbard Katar Tessto Irda Vine Bolas Cluster Balls Powder Bombs |
#2zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 0:22:15 | Was accidently omitted from the DLCS, but from what I've read it should be printed in upcoming material. Hope that helps Arandur |
#3zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 0:34:17 | If it was accidentally ommited, then it should have taken the form of a web enhancement... This i would like to see. |

#5randpcSep 01, 2003 1:15:52 | Originally posted by Zaebos I would be inclined to agree, but looking at it from Soverign Press POV I can easily see why they don't. They have precious little to gain by releasing it via web enhancement... perhaps a tiny bit of customer loyalty/good-will, but most of their prospective customers are already solid DragonLance fans. On the other hand they stand to gain a decent amount of revenue by packaging it with the DragonLance DM Screen. A product that generally doesnt sell a particularly overwhelming number of copies. It's comparatively cheap to design, produce and ship however and by packaging the Racial Weapons with the DM Screen they could potentially induce quite a few buyers that would otherwise pass on said product, |

#7shugiSep 01, 2003 2:23:22 | The belaying pin is in Age of Mortals along with the mariner class. Many weapons can simply use existing stats from the PHB or other books (the core rules kinda recommends this as well). Here's a quick set of possibilities: PHB Equivalents Barbarians: Crook Blade (scimitar), Ice Crossbow (hand crossbow), Kala (kama or sickle), Throwing Blades (throwing axe), Throwing Stones (sling stone). Dwarves: Gapper (club) Gnomes: Gnome Pick ("small" light pick) Minotaurs: Clabbard (greatsword), Katar (punching dagger) OA Equivalents Barbarians: Bear Claws (nekode), Minotaurs: Kausin (kau sin ke), Lajang (lajatang), Sanguine (sang kauw) The rest of 'em are up to you, but they should be easily modified (forpann = combo trident/net, mandoll = spiked gauntlet that can do bludgeon dmg, throwing sticks = boomering, warpipe = combo blowgun/club, etc). Kender weapons are a bit more difficult, but that's why we have Kipper. :D |
#8rosishaSep 01, 2003 7:24:47 | Someone somewhere on these boards also designed a "How to design weapons in D&D 3rd Ed", which was actually a very balanced system (it worked with every weapon from what I can tell). If I can find the link i'll post it here, then you can take the stats from TotL and convert those weapons. Actually i'll do that myself after the parade. Rosisha, who will post the conversion weapons in a few minutes. |

#10zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 10:58:21 | Originally posted by Zaebos Okay, time to save the moderators some trouble....I have seen this question asked and answered at least 15 separate times. The information that you sought was plainly on at least 3 different threads, possibly even in the FAQ at the top. If you could please check out a few other threads before posting something like that it would be nice so that the board isnt clogged with some 10 people asking essentially the same thing. And as far as the weapon chart goes....you'll have it very soon kemosabe. |
#11zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 16:40:59 | A quick scan of the last 4 pages revealed NOTHING about the weapons omision... Hence my question. |
#12talinthasSep 01, 2003 16:55:34 | it's embedded within a dozen posts or so. everyone and their mother has asked about it. |
#13zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 19:45:43 | I hope that they print this material soon. It is kind of hard to make characters, like kender, without their racial weapoins. |
#14talinthasSep 01, 2003 19:49:39 | no it isnt. just make a kender who isnt a tas clone. |
#15zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 19:54:35 | So because a Kender uses a Hoopak he is a Tas clone ? |
#16zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 21:05:29 | Dude that Kith-Kanan avatar is tripping me out. I read those last few posts thinking Talinthas was pulling a total "Gollum" with himself: "Without racial weapons what are the stats for the hoopaks of our kender friends?" "You don't have any friends...." "Master's my friend...." *coughgollumcoughgollum* "We don't need to make Tas clones anymore..." "What did you say?" "Send your Tas clones away and never come back!" "grrrrrrr!" "Away!" "................" "Whee! Smeagalinthas is free!!!" |
#17zombiegleemaxSep 01, 2003 21:07:17 | Back in the day, Kender got bonuses to hit with their weapons. Much like Halflings do with thrown weapons. So, grant Kender a Virtual Weapon Focus in all their weapons. Simple as that. Now, to what their weapons do, that can be easy. Hoopak--Small Quaterstaff, or maybe spear since the end is pointed, with a sling hooked on it, with double the range (since there are no staff slings anymore). |
