Hiya Hawkers,

I did a search on the web for info on Verbobonc, and I came across two different city maps. One was a simple overhead map with numbered buildings. The other was a 3d perspective map with buildings marked by letters and numbers (eg. A4, H2).

Does anyone know what I'm talking about? Where do these maps come from, and which one should I use? I'm basing my campaign on material from Oerth Journal 8 & 9 and RttToEE.

Thanks
Heng

I found the second of the maps in question online. Check out THIS Web site and scroll to the bottom and see the "Verbobonc Western and Eastern links. These are the 3D maps indicated above.

The first map, the one I cannot find, is from the AD&D (2nd ed.) module "Fate of Istus," where PCs chase a sorcerous aroound who is spreading disease in all of Greyhawk's major cities - Verbobnc among them. I actually have a copy of "Fate of Istus" and it's that map I use for encounters in Verbobonc.

SVGames has a downloadable "Fate of Istus" for five dollars, but the pdf file is badly corrupted, so don't buy it.

Thanks Greyson, that site looks pretty useful. Heh, I used to live in Park City.

Well, the Fate of Istus one is probably the closest to Greyhawk "canon" if you're looking for accuracy. I'd say use whichever one fits what you are trying to accomplish in your game though.

Thanks everybody!

The 3D map key seems to match up with the description of the city in the Oerth Journal, so I'll use that.

I have a ton of old Greyhawk pdfs from SVgames, including the original Greyhawk boxed set, which is also badly corrupted. Does anyone know where I can find an uncorrupted pdf?

Yea, that Bastard Greyhawk Maps Web site is pretty cool. I just wish they would keep it updated. Some of the links are broken, as they are URLs to other people's sites.

Anyway, good luck with the Verbobonc you use, Ellesmere. The 3D map is cool, but I use the "Fate of Istus" rendition. I'm not sure about the implications of canon and so forth. So I'll stay out of that conversation

And next time your in Utah, drop me a line, Jagermeister

I agree. And it's not just the maps that required a lot of effort---plenty of writing went into detailing Verbobonc too.
