Mountain Sickness

Ok, I am currently reading the Terrain Section in DMG 3.5. I have noticed they have every modifier but Mountain Sickness.

In the Wanderer's Journal, it is mentioned that some of the peaks top 24,000 ft in height. This is approx. the size of Mt. Everest and K12. Now in the 2e rules IIRC, there was mountain sickness rules for this height.

I was thinking either a Con check DC 15 (endurance would add it's pluses as well) at 15000 ft. I think at 20000, it might be a combination of Will and Con Checks, with the DC going up per 1000 ft. I know it is kinda vague, but was thinking of ways to elaborate.

Any ideas?

Take examples from real life. I live out here in Colorado because the military says so. I came here able to run 5 miles without effort, and now struggle because of the thin air. So, before you even hit the peaks the characters may be feeling the Mountain Sickness effects.

As you go up the mountain, make the check the average of the Will save and the Con score (i.e. a 15 Con and a 7 Will total to 22. The average of this is 11, therefore the character uses this as there bonus to the die roll for the check). The DC should become pretty hard, people can and do climb those nasty tall mountains, but you know they are suffering from doing so.

The other idea may be to take the bonus of the Con and the Will and find the average (i.e. 15 con gives the character a 2 bonus, the character has a will of 7, these total to 9. The average is 4.5 and use this result as the bonus to the die roll)

Ok my bad, I hadn't read far enough. There is already a nice system in place.
