#1zombiegleemaxSep 05, 2003 15:05:13 | Im looking for some cool, warrior type pictures of a Minotaur. PS I can't believe this but my wife went away for the weekend and Im taping her the movie Sam I AM. If you have children whatever you do don't watch this movie. This movie is killing me. |
#2kalanthSep 05, 2003 15:08:52 | Check the Monsters Manual, there is a pretty sweet picture of a Minotaur and that is what I use for my visual description. |
#3lenin97Sep 05, 2003 15:12:11 | It's always seemed to me that cool mintaur art has always been scarce but you can check out the following... Dragonlance.com's fan art Issue of the Torbil with Kaz on the cover The minotaurs of Taladas supplement for AD&D Great art work! |
#4brimstoneSep 05, 2003 15:12:38 | Originally posted by Kalanth The pictures of Hotak and Nephera in the AoM are really good. Never thought a cow would have pretty eyes... LOL! |
#5nevineSep 05, 2003 15:13:38 | Well..I'm not aware if you have Age of Mortals or not, but if you don't, when you get it there are a few minotaur warrior-like pictures. Galdar on page 176 and General Hotak de-Droka on page 121. Edit: Doh..Brim beat me. |
#6lenin97Sep 05, 2003 15:14:21 | Oh Kalanth, I hate that picture. :D But you know what they say... It takes different strokes to move the world! |
#7zombiegleemaxSep 05, 2003 15:30:02 | Ill have AoM next week as they say "It's in the mail". |
#8kalanthSep 05, 2003 17:51:45 | Originally posted by Brimstone Soon as my copyt shows I will look at those. Pretty eyes makes me curious. |
#9jonesySep 05, 2003 18:16:35 | Also check the two Kaz pictures in the Legend of Huma thread if you haven't already. |
#10zombiegleemaxSep 05, 2003 18:25:03 | Yes, is I saw those pictures (of Kaz) and I liked them but Im looking for one perhaps wearing some armor. I find it hard to believe that any sentient race, especially one built around warfare would pass up the advantages of wearing armor. |
#11daedavias_dupSep 05, 2003 21:24:34 | The odd thing that I found is that non of the minotaur pics fit the description given in the races chapter. The desc. says they have hooves, while all the pics have feet. Indeed Hotak is cool :D |
#12zombiegleemaxSep 07, 2003 13:00:34 | Here is an image I drew for our party minotaur. Tygore Plainstrider Should fit your needs of a cow in armor :D |
#13talinthasSep 07, 2003 13:40:10 | The best minotaur pics are from the taladas box set =) |
#14zombiegleemaxSep 07, 2003 16:30:31 | I have that too. I love Minotaurs. I also have "Taladas, The Land of Minotaurs" book. |
#15zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2003 9:39:27 | Ahh, I finally got AoM and yes Hotak is the best Ive seen so far. Atleast he is wearing armor. I mean any intelligent warrior race (which Minotaurs certainly are) would wear armor. All those pictures of Minotaurs in the midst of battle with ZERO armor on are rediculous (atleast in my eyes). Krynn Minotaurs aren't the beastial minotaurs from other worlds. Krynn Minotaurs are a race all there own and the General looks cool, hehe. |
#16lenin97Sep 09, 2003 9:41:28 | Plus with a natural armor bonus of only +2, without armor the battle fields would filled mostly with minotaur corpses instead of the bodies of their enemies. And we all know that would never happen! |
#17zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2003 10:03:13 | Hahaha, I know. I just got off the phone with a buddy and he thinks Minotaurs shouldn't wear armor. Some people think a 24 str in 3.5 is the same as a 24 str in 2nd ed., it isnt. I reallt see Krynn Minotaurs as the Star Trek Klingon equivilent. The Klingons don't have the high technology of the Federation (thus the lower Int mod) and due to their fighting styles of being very straight forward combatants (-2 dex) and extremely hostile personalities (-2 Cha) but all these things are overcome by their ferociousness in combat and life (+4 str). They also believe in dieing well but they still equip their ships with shields cause if they didn't they know that they would die an honorable death way too fast. A lvl 6 knight in plate +1 with a +1 2-h sword with a dex of 12 and str (16+SoH) has an Ac of 24 and a attack bonus of +13 +8 and a damage of 2d6+ 10 vs a minotaur lvl 6 with a +1 2-H clabbard with no armor (with a str 22 and dex 10 has an Ac of 12 and a attack bonus of +13 +8 with a damage of 2d6 +13 (or something like that my son is jumping on my lap, hehe) Can you say hamburgers anyone? |
#18zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2003 13:59:40 | Thats because most dragonlance minotaurs have feet. The origional write up had feet, but the WotC editors changed it to hooves. |
#19lenin97Sep 09, 2003 14:02:05 | No hamburger! Armor for Sargas' chosen! |
#20zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2003 14:22:43 | Originally posted by Kalanth I absolutly loath that picture... It looks like such a brainless beast... Originally posted by Daedavias I consider it kind of a mix between a foot and a cloven hoof... Look in some of the prior DL minotaurs from AD&D products like Time of the Dragon, or Taladas: the Minotaurs, and you will see what i mean. There is just no possible way something the size of a minotaur could walk around steadily on 2 cloven hooves. I read a book saying that instead of stairs, minotaurs prefer the use of ladders... Is that the craziest thing ever or what? climbing ladder with cloven hooves? whose f'ing idea was that?! Ladders, rocking boats, how far do they wanna push it? Originally posted by Eylwn Highmoon Hmmmm.... The face looks strangly familiar... Have I met him before somewhere? |
#21lenin97Sep 09, 2003 14:24:28 | Originally posted by Eylwn Highmoon My favorite part of that pic is the Mino-Mullet! :D |
#22zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2003 14:25:30 | Heheh, I noticed that hair cut as well. A Minoatur will star in the next "Joe Dirt" movie. |
#23kalanthSep 09, 2003 14:57:33 | Whelp, now that I am done crying because I am the only one that likes the Picture of a Minotaur out of the Monsters Manual, I would have to say that the pictures of Minotaurs in the AoM are just incredible. I love that picture, very regal and classy. |
#24zombiegleemaxSep 09, 2003 15:02:13 | Hahahaha, Kal its not that I don't like the pic in the MM but its that I don't like it for a KRYNN minotaur. I think in a dungeon crawl I never want to see that pic of the Minotaur if you get my drift. |
#25kalanthSep 09, 2003 15:50:53 | Well, Hammerhand, I completly agree with the not wanting to see it in a Dungeon Crawl. I made an NPC minotaur/lich that uses that picture as his body example in my dragonance game. Gotta love the players faces when that description came out, all their jaws hit the floor. |
#26zombiegleemaxSep 19, 2003 16:50:12 | Here´s a nice minotaur picture. By the same artist who did General Hotak in AoM - Dan Scott. http://www.danscott.20m.com/images/Kovarth.jpg |
#27zombiegleemaxSep 19, 2003 17:25:09 | I must say it Damn, that is WICKED! It's on my desktop as we speak, wow wee, haha. In case you haven't quite figured it out, I like the pic, hehe. Thanks for posting it. |
#28zombiegleemaxSep 19, 2003 19:06:13 | Hehe me too! The minute I saw the pic it went straight to my desktop! :D |
#29zombiegleemaxSep 19, 2003 19:58:22 | ok, now THAT'S evil......... |
#30zombiegleemaxSep 19, 2003 20:11:38 | Huh. I thought the pic was of a NG Minotaur ranger. |
#31zombiegleemaxSep 20, 2003 13:32:02 | Originally posted by Kalanth And if you belive it that particular minotaur is a wizard |
