I just got he Age of Mortals. While I haven’t had the time to really read through it everything I’ve seen so far seems amazing. The optional rule for Wizards of High Sorcery not having to specialize is the silver lining in this book, for me at least. The art is just incredible, great job. I don’t want to ruin the book binding by scanning the artwork inside so I remembered that Wizards of the Coast has an art gallery. Are there any plans to make the art in this book available in JPEG? I know Age of Mortals is under Sovereign Press so I don’t expect so see it in Wizards.com but maybe it can be made available in the Sovereign website or the Nexus?

I think the Art work of Slith the Sivak is the best. At last a picture of a "Noble" looking Draconian.

I got a story idea straight away from it: A Silver Dragon, shapechanged as a Sivak comes to Teyr with the goal of redeeming his once coruupted brothers to the side of light.
To do so he starts a Draconian Knighthood, (Like Dragonlance needs another order of knights :D right?) the Knights of Teyr to up hold honor, justice and the future of the Draconian People.

Okay....I definitely want to state my opinion on this one.....I just got AoM today as well.....I flipped thru it to see if the art was any better than what we saw in the DLCS, and for the most part it wasnt. Don't get me wrong...there are alot of stunning pieces in there....but they don't outweigh those that I really felt were substandard. For example...the Rogue Knight picture.....The picture of Mina in the writeup on Fallen Gods....Malystrx....the scholar on page 56....The Solamnic Auxilary Mage....the Tarmak....The Shadow dragon......Galdar(he looks like a horned ape)......Rig Mer Krel.....Dhamon Grimwulf.....

Okay....now that I have gotten that out of the way.....The book itself was superb.....a perfect companion to the DLCS....I might use the generalist wizard as an option after all....just to diversify the WoHS....All the info in the book was awesome.....And the art in the book was very good.....aside from what I mentioned above...I really liked Elmore's new painting of Laurana.....And Marshal Medan was not as I expected him to look, nor is he how I will always picture him, but the depiction of him was very good. Nalis Aren was very creepy.....The pair of minotaur were very much the way I have always imagined....I have one question on a painting.....on page 88...is that supposed to be Targonne and Mirielle Abrena? If so, I really like the painting.

All in all, if this is the standard we can expect from future DL books, then I will own every one of them.

I think it is Abrena and Targonne, I get that feeling with the "A 'New' Vision" entry of the timeline at the top of the page.

Some of the artwork in AoM I wasn't happy with...and you pretty much nailed those ones on the head, although the Shadow Dragon image (I'm imagining the full body one) isn't a true shadow dragon, it's a picture of Dhamon the dragon. The Mina picture was Larry's representation of Mina... we figured that since we used Matt's Goldmoon from Lost Star that we'd get Larry to do a character that Matt had first imaged ;)

On page 88, that is indeed Targonne & Mirielle...wanted to show the physical (and spiritual) difference between the two big leaders of the Dark Knights.

I did make a few misjudgements on the quality of a few of the artists I had hired for Age of Mortals, taking a risk that unfortunately didn't pan out... however, overall, I'm still pretty happy with the look of the book... and I'm striving to make sure that each book looks even better :D

I am trying to put together a small art gallery for Age of Mortals (not like the complete one that WotC did, however), and I'll try to make sure that it gets up as quickly as possible!

Mr. Coyle himself....how cool! Anyway....No...I meant the Shadow Dragon's head pic.......About 5 years ago I would have liked it....But then I started seeing Lockwood and Stawicki dragon pic's and I am just too spoiled by theirs.....

And that is Mirielle and Targonne....Very cool....He is one character who I never thought we would see painted....That is exciting.....And the painting itself is gloroius.....Abrena is exactly how I had pictured she would be.

I am really pleased with SP so far....you guys did phenomally....and what I really like is when a consumer like myself actually states their complaint about your product in a mature fashion, you addressed it and stated how things will be better from here on.....I am now a faithful SP customer....

If you could, in this art gallery, include the art for the DM screen?
I have been biting my nails for that one....I hope it is the best yet.

Stormprince I look forward to this art gallery. Omit the crappy ones though, pretty much the ones Serana and you dislike. Over all the art in AoM is awesome and I hope in the future the art holds to the high standards set byThe Legion Mystic, Spellfilch and war mage.

The Legionnaires and the War Mage were done by the artist Jason Engle (who also did the image of Slith), while the Spellfilch was done by Jennifer Meyer (who also did Silvanoshei, the Master Ambassador, and the Citadel Mystic)...both of whom I try and get to work on any project that comes across my desk...I love their work, so look for much more of it in our products to come! ;)

Oh yeah, and what's the deal with Targonne? He looks like a near sighted half-gnome-midget. I pictured him as a stern no-nonsense taskmaster, kinda like our modern retail store district managers concerned with this years returns vs. current shrink rate and so on...

Aye. Those pictures were really good. I would certainly like to see more of them in future books.

Well, Targonne was described as being very short and slight, almost gnome-like... and the artist might have taken it a little too far... but I think part of that is simply to drive home the difference between him and Mirielle.

I haven´t received a copy of AoM yet so I was wondering...who are the artists behind the art work in the book? I pray to...well someone...that Todd Lockwood and Sam Waller made at least some of the artwork!

Actually, I loved the image of Targonne. I look at him and think 'accountant.'

The concept of someone looking like him leading the Knights of Takhisis is highly laughable, which considering the description of him is the way it is supposed to be.

I aslo do not own the Age of Mortals companion and I'm just wondering...

Did the artist Vinod Rams do any work on the book?

What about Wayne Reynolds?

Those two and Lockwood are my favorite DnD book artists (Reynolds and Rams's work in Ghostwalk is superb!)) and I know that Rams was involved in the DLCS.

the academy sorceror, the legionnaires, and sylvan are the best pieces in the book =) Palin and Dalamar look awesome, since elmore basically aged the classic picture from the cover of Tales 1, and i agree with the targonne comments above. Great juxtaposition =)

we want more from them, kthx =)

It's really nice to see the actual people involved in the project take some time out and address the issue. Thanks
