Okay - So I've tried to keep up with the majority of the new novels over the years. Though I can't cite chapter and verse, I've got a fairly good idea of the state of Krynn at the moment.

I've now been elected to take over my group's D&D campaign, and the votes came in for Dragonlance. I've got an idea for a fairly interesting campaign that would culminate in the restoration of something that's currently missing from Krynn (Palanthus is particular).

The problem is: What kind of adventures should I put together for the brand new 1st level characters. Most of the people in the gaming group remember reading the original novels, but don't remember much of the plot. No one has any idea about the 5th Age. There's so much that's gone on, and Dragonlance itself is such a unique setting that I feel required to run them through a few short adventures designed solely to bring them up to speed on the world of Krynn itself.

Advice...?

The DLCS has the Sylvan Key (I think it is called) for 1st level characters and is a great way to introduce players to Krynn seeing as it contains the character known as the Herald (a bardic version of Astinus). Perhaps he could explain what happened on Krynn in the recent years in the form of old stories and songs told to the party around a campfire or in a tavern? That way it blends in with the adventure and you have also brought the players 'up to speed' with the world...

Just an idea

I've chosen post-War of Souls to set the campaign in. Basically, the time period concurrent with what the DLCS calls "now."
