#1zombiegleemaxSep 11, 2003 17:39:30 | Was wondering what was everyone favourite DL artwork. C'mon I know there must have been some DL picture somewhere that made you look at it and just go 'That is so damn awesome'. So what are they? I think for myself I would have to say the cover of the Tales of the Lance boxed set with the Heroes of the Lance sitting around the campfire and that famous picture of Lord Gunther mounted of a Gold Dragon (I think it's name was Pyrite?). Now that to me was what a Solamnic knight should look like! So what was your favourite piece of art? What art took your breath away or inspired your game? Arandur |
#2zombiegleemaxSep 11, 2003 20:18:48 | I had a Dragonlance puzzle when I was a kid of Laurana ( at least I think it was her) chained before Takhisis, who was staring down at here with all five heads. I thought that was pretty cool. 'Course then I lost one of the pieces so I couldn't finish the puzzle (grr..) |
#3zombiegleemaxSep 11, 2003 20:38:00 | For me there a a few pieces that have made me stop and go wow! First of all there was Lord Soth's charge with his riders behind him. Next I would put Laurana standing over Sturms body on top of the High Clerists Tower. Then I would have to say the cover of "The Dragons, lost histories Vol. 6", with the silver guarding her nest and the red rising to meet it. |

#5kalanthSep 11, 2003 21:34:27 | Soth's charge. That and the Draconians being lost picture, can't remember the name. |
#6zombiegleemaxSep 11, 2003 23:05:13 | Actually the name of that picture is "What do you mean 'We're lost?'" . I'm actually using the picture of Luarana and the Dark Queen in her 5 headed glory as my desktop on my computer. I also love the picture of Kit and Dalamar facing of in front of the portal. |
#7sweetmeatsSep 12, 2003 6:43:05 | I like the picture of Sturm atop the High Clerists while abov him is Skie and Kitiara. I love the picture. |
#8talinthasSep 12, 2003 7:06:31 | split between the cover of Spectre of the Black Rose, Kinslayer War, Chaos Spawn, Annotated Chronicals, Dargonesti, and The original cover of Test of the Twins. |
#9The_White_SorcererSep 12, 2003 7:38:52 | Anything by Lockwood or Stawicki, really. But if I had to pick favorites, I'd say Annotated Chronicles and Dragons of Autumn Twilight. |
#10zombiegleemaxSep 12, 2003 8:13:56 | My all-time favorite is the picture where Laurana is standing over Sturm's corpse on the High Clerist's tower. But beyond that, I also love this picture that was on the cover of the Champions of Krynn computer game (I think). I'm sure it was reused from somewhere - It had a Flying Citadel in the background is dragons flying around it, and a bunch of folks (my memory depicts them as the companions, but I'm unsure) riding away from it on horseback with a legion of skeletons and Soth barreling after them. That's not Soth's charge, is it? |
#11jonesySep 12, 2003 8:26:25 | The covers of Land of the Minotaurs, Night of the Eye and the DLCS. Elmore and Stawicki it is. |
#12zombiegleemaxSep 12, 2003 9:06:16 | I have the "Land of Minotaurs" cover as my desktop background, hehe. I think my fav's are between the Land of Minotaurs and the charge of Lord Soth (man thats scary) but the Draconians being lost one is cool as well (I have the 2nd edition art of DL book, very cool). |
#13Matthew_L._MartinSep 15, 2003 21:40:35 | Originally posted by The Udjat Cover of DL4 _Dragons of Hope_, although I think you're misremembering Soth and his skeleton warriors. And Tal, the 'Annotated Chronicles' cover properly belongs to DLC15A, and _Spectre of the Black Rose_ is a Ravenloft piece. :-) Matthew L. Martin |
#14zombiegleemaxSep 15, 2003 22:40:08 | Is "Spectre" the picture of a Soth statue with rose vines growing on it? Cause that pic kicks butt! |
#15zombiegleemaxSep 16, 2003 4:07:09 | Next to the cover of the AoM (which really did take my breath away!!!) would be the one of Dragons of Spring Dawning. It was a newer edition and feature a picture of Caramon and Raistlin standing next to each other in a field, with Cyan Bloodbane behind them. |
#16zombiegleemaxSep 16, 2003 12:11:20 | Elmore's cover of Time of the Twins is my favorite. I love all of Elmore's work. The covers for the Legends Trilogy are phenomenal. I really like Keith Parkinson's work, along with Clyde Caldwell and Jeff Easley, but Elmore will always be my favorite Dragonlance artist. |
#17brimstoneSep 16, 2003 12:20:18 | Hands down, without a doubt, it is the cover of Chaos Spawn by Todd Lockwood. |
#18zombiegleemaxSep 16, 2003 13:28:54 | Oooh Brim Ive never seen that one before. That is very very sweet! |
#19zombiegleemaxSep 16, 2003 19:45:20 | Mines gotta be the cover of Dragons of Summer Flame. |
#20zombiegleemaxSep 16, 2003 19:52:39 | Originally posted by HiddenValor Which one? I prefer the Stawicki. |
#21zombiegleemaxSep 16, 2003 19:54:55 | Elmore's just because I'm an artist an I love his work. |
