#1morgion-s_clawSep 17, 2003 1:18:10 | Lemish A similar question arises with the history of Lemish. In TotL it’s mentioned as a country developping in times after the Rose Rebellion. In the known map of pre-cataclysmic Ansalon it’s a part of Solamnia. Which type of human would build their own little realm in those wooded lands? A society of rangers, woodmen, hunters, loggers, makers of coal, carpenters...perhaps some outlaws. All more independant than the common solamnic serf/farmer. Developping from a kind of „democracy“ found with the buccaneers in our world to a powerbased aristocratie ending up in a feudal kingdom under the strong arm of a fierce king, constantly forced to hold onto the power and legitimate himself before some more freedom-orientated individuals within the woods. Perhaps nominally under the rule of Solamnia, allied with the Knights, who in their turn help establish order and law in the woods and support the local reign. Majerian monasteries, Habbakuk priest and druids taking some refuge from the civilised world in the grip of righteousness. Then with the cataclysm havoc and a great chance in the same time: Seafaring merchants from Lemish, trade with Sanction, greater independance from Solamnia, orientation to the eastern lands. The downfall with the dragonarmies, the invasion of Throt, Lemish under the iron grip of evil from that time on. Ideas? Comments? Known facts? M’s Claw |
