I was wondering... Post-WoS time, is the first kingdom of the dwarves lost? I heard it wasn't.... but... Wanted some answers on this. It's gonna be the focus of my campaign, so kinda need some pertinant info on this place.

The "original" Kal-Thax was located near the northern reaches of Nordmaar. In 2800 PC shortly after Thorin was built the kingdom of Kal-Thax (in Northern Nordmaar) disappeared. There were rumors of darkness and death issuing from Kal-thax before all the entrances were sealed and the entire realm eventually disappeared.

Now, what may be confusing is that there was actually about 5 or six “dwarven” kingdoms that were called Kal-Thax. The dwarven term “kal-thax” means “cold forge” and when the Hylar abandoned the halls of Thorin in 2150 PC they went in search of “kal-thax”. What they found was “Kal-thax” located in the southern reaches of the continent which encompassed the Kharolis Mountains. So while they discovered _a_ “kal-thax” it was not the _original_ Kal-thax. That has never been discovered.

Hope that makes sense.

In the book the Night Of Blood it states that the minotaur slaves revolted and sacked the city.

Heheh. it can drive you nuts. :-) in fact, If there are six different sites that all called themselves "Cold-forge" it's possible that the minotaurs could have destroyed the original Kal-thax. Heck, they might also have destroyed Thorin, thinking it was Kal-thax. alas, History is an incomplete and haphazard science. :-)

Personally, I'd reconcile it by making it the "Kal-Thax" empire, with sites all over North Eastern Ansalon. Heck, that was probably what the caverns under Nereka (which the companions traversed in the original modules), and Sean MacDonald's deepdark (in his geographical information on the desolation) are. The Kal-Thax empire.

Well they did. :D They destroyed the Kal-Thax that resided next to Karthay. ;)

The "original" Kal-Thax was near what would become Nordmaar.
There was also a kal-thax near Karthay, and the Kharolis Mountains, and Northern Sancrist (Mount Nevermind)... hmm looking at the map that's it. There was only four.

Well, it is concievable that the Hesti discovered the remains of the original Kal-Thax and built their northern most city there and then the same thing that swallowed the "original" Kal-Thax also swallowed that underground elven city.
