How much do you suppose a humble tradesman, like a barrel-maker from Kharolis, makes each year? Based on that, what percentage of said barrel-maker's income do you think the Dark Knights would make him give up to the Lord Marshall? What I'm looking for is a number that sounds reasonable to my players' 1st level characters but is too high for them to bail everyone in town out a jam. My own thoughts are that the Dark Knights might go as high as 65% of household income during wartime, probably collected once a year for farmers and half in the spring and half in the fall for tradesmen. I'd welcome any other thoughts though. At the same time this begs the question: What do you think the Knights of Neraka would charge a pack of roaming adventurers for staying in an occupied town or village? Cheers, Maglaurus |

So 30 days per month and 12 months in a year makes that 108 steel pieces per year or 9 steel pieces a month. As for taxes, perhaps 1/3 of gross income. So said barrelmaker pays 3 stl in taxes a month. |
