How would you render in 3rd edition DS the old 2nd DS characters from the accessories.

For example: In The Will and the Way Liumakh is this powerfull semi-corporeal undead psionicist who is said to be 'similar to a ghost or spectre'. He is described as someone 'whose unending ambition for power continued after his death.'.

So what does it make him? A wraith? No, for he would no longer be a powerfull undead since its not a template but a monster type. Sugestions? Perhaps a new undead template?

Other example: In Slave Tribes Fevil and Er'Thork are fleshed out, but in 2nd edition. How would you make them now?

Simple, ignore their 2e stats for starters.

Next, ignore the backgrounds for the various undead templates.

Pick you arbitrary levels of psion or psychic warrior and any other classes you deem appropriate.

Then, pick a template that fits the powers and abilities you associate with Liumakh (personally, spectre fits IMO).

Blam-O, character completed. No PC is going to, after fighting with Liumakh, turn to you and say "Hey, he was just a spectre! He's not supposed to be able to do X or Y!" Not unless they want to be magically teleported into a den of starving tembo . . .

Fevil is easy, human defiler, 10th lvl (or less with a few PrC levels of Arch defiler or somesuch). Re-tooling ability scores (I use 75 point distribution for major NPCs on a 1 for 1 basis).

Str: 9 Int: 18 Wis: 17 Dex: 13 Con: 11 Cha: 7 (10th lvl nets +2 to stats, add one to Int and one to Dex)

Give him some skills (not bothering with that)
Give him some feats (he gets 4): Two metamagic, and two item creation.

Equip him nicely with his bone quarterstaff . . . okay, maybe give him a magic item or two, maybe even something interesting that he learned to make with Er'thork's aid. Maybe he has a scarab of protection that lends him a little courage to deal with the raaig. I also think he'd look cool with a circlet atop his bald head, so a circlet of armor +2 (as per the bracers) would work. Add a few potion fruits and some scrolls and Blamo-O. Fin.

Raigs are in the Terrors of the Deadlands book. Er'thork is described as having been a worshiper of dark gods in Athas' ancient past. Paganism perhaps? The stereotype would be to make him a cleric or fighter, but I like twists, so perhaps the false gods he worshiped was one of trickery and deceit. He is trying to deceive and manipulate Fevil after all. I'd give him enough levels in rogue to go toe to toe with Fevil if Fevil didn't have his scarab (plot hook ). 12 levels with his template may do it.

Mach, where did you saw that you should give 75 attributes points to NPCs ? It give about 12,5 points per stat. I though it was about 13,3333 (give 80 overall), but of course, I dont know or remember where I took that.

That's just the spread I use. The particular players I have like to chunk as many points in as few stats as possible. 75 point ensures that by maxing out two stats, two will be average, and two will be rock bottom. Average is 12.5, higher than standard. Plus, 75 is easier for players to remember. I hate the point buy system in the core rules, finding it uneccessarily clunky, especially when I'm creating a few dozen NPCs.
