Was it completely destroyed? What’s stopping wizards from clearing the ogres from Daltigoth and reopening it? Oh, yeah the White Dragon Overlord. But without him would that plan be feasible? |
#2kipper_snifferdoo_02Sep 26, 2003 20:21:16 | I'm fairly certain that tower was oblitertated along with most of the city. If there is anything left it would be little more than ruins, like "The Ruins" of the Losarcum Tower in the Desolation. |
#3frojasSep 26, 2003 20:43:43 | Divine Hammer, book two in the King Priest trilogy describes the fall of the tower and what the city looked like after the tower was destroyed. I can't remember the exact description of what was left of the tower but I know it wasn't much. FR |
#4baron_the_curseSep 26, 2003 21:35:02 | hmm.... so much for that then. I had Daltigoth reclaimed by Northern Ergoth. It's actually thriving city after it was rebuild. A very long process I assure you. But with what you guys told me I don't see enough of the Tower surviving to start over. Thanks. |

This does allow for the possibility of its existence, though it's obviously non-canon and somewhat far-fetched :D Simon Collins |
#6carteegSep 27, 2003 18:20:58 | * POSSIBLE SPOILERS FOR DIVINE HAMMER * I'm running my campaign on the theory that Daltigoth was completely destroyed, and that a small section of Losarcum remained. The Ruins appear to be the reminents of what was left, so I am putting together an adventure where a number of basement floors didn't go boom. Basically I have it that several of the basement floors up to the top detonated, and the lowest of the lowest basement floor survived (due to a last second partial interruption in the 'tower-go-boom' spell). However, initially the bottom floors were covered by dirt and what-not. Initial inspection of anyone in the 3rd Age wouldn't have seen anything. However, during the Cataclysm, the massive Krynnquakes caused portions of the tower to be uncovered (albeit partially collapsed at the top). Add some weathering for the next 351 years, and you have the Ruins which we all know and love today. I'm putting some extra details into the story right now, but I'm not risking posting it until I get everything put together and run through with the players. |
#7zombiegleemaxSep 28, 2003 2:09:48 | Each of the Towers were made with one of the Stones of Three weren't they? I am not really sure what the Stones of Three are, but if they are like the cornerstone that was used for the Temple of Takhisis in Neraka in Chronicles, they might have the ability to slowly regenerate a destroyed Tower of High Sorcery if "fed" enough magic, be it the ambient magical energy of the world, or the deliberate feeding by a dedicated group of wizards. If that is the case, perhaps the Tower of Daltigoth could have slowly, over time been regenerating itself. Perhaps the outpouring of energy released by the Chaos War could have stepped it up. |
#8talinthasSep 28, 2003 14:54:26 | i ran a cool adventure where the tower of daltigoth was basically like a radioactive meltdown site, with lots of mutant magical beasts and stuff. IMC, daltigoth is run by titans who work for gellidus, and so they had a presence there too, with elven sacrifices and things. it was a ton of fun =) |
