#1zombiegleemaxSep 29, 2003 14:32:36 | I read somewhere that there were five continents on krynn: Ansalon and Taladas were the two developed continents, another is being developed by a fan site, and two more. Does anyone know the fan site that is developing the third continent? |
#2zombiegleemaxSep 29, 2003 15:04:28 | Think it's Dragonhelm and his croonies. |
#3DragonhelmSep 29, 2003 15:49:49 | Originally posted by Magus_Extreme Wow, we're crooners! Frank Sinatra, eat your heart out. Oh, you meant cronies! ;) The third continent is a work in progress called Adlatum. We're taking a hiatus, as we've been busy helping Sov. Press, but we hope to get back to it soon. |

#11DragonhelmSep 30, 2003 14:29:40 | Would now be a bad time to mention that you spelled Drew Carey incorrectly in your sig? :D Uh, hey! Just back those beholders away. I didn't mean nothin' by it, honest! ZAP! We now return you to your regularly scheduled program. *falls over* |
#12zombiegleemaxSep 30, 2003 15:12:23 | *Grumble grumble* anyhow..................... bought your new continent, dragonhelm, since that's suppose to be the subject of this thread, not my pitiful spelling??? next person who brings up my bad spelling gets their brains eaten. :88E: |
#13kalanthSep 30, 2003 15:38:08 | Can't eat my brain, I don't have one... *Just blink and stare, blink and stare* |
#14DragonhelmSep 30, 2003 15:50:43 | Sorry about that Magus. Just poking fun. Okay, so you want to know a bit about the continent of Adlatum... In the Age of Dreams, there was a man known only as the Prophet who was given a vision of things to come. He recorded his visions in his Seven Volumes, which were later distributed amongst the races of Adlatum. The Prophet's words have been a catalyst for many changes in Adlatum, and are largely responsible for the Canon War as well as the War of the Prophet. As the minotaurs and dwarves warred over the volumes, the minotaur emperor became full of pride and hubris, threatening to someday replace Kiri-Jolith and Sargonnas amongst the stars. It was then that the earth quaked, and the Great Wave hit Adlatum, splitting the continent into two. The minotaur empire died that day, leaving two tribes. The Mahjoran, who follow the ways of discipline taught by Majere, and the Sakarran, who are nomadic conquerers who follow their Khan. In modern times, an elf (and a fallen elf at that) claims to be the prophet reincarnate. Some claim she is a False Prophet, while others are ready to follow her. Plus, there's lots more. There are Talker Gnomes, Hoda and Voda Kunda (Kender) who walk the line between life and spirits, beast dragons, and much, much more! |
#15daedavias_dupSep 30, 2003 16:08:51 | *holds wand of magic missle to Dragonhelm's head* Keep that info coming, DH, or else! J/K...or so you think... Aldatum sounds really fun, although the wave hitting it was kinda predictable(or I am psychic...). One thing I am concerned over is the fact that there must be a friggin Minotaur empire on every continent. It's not that it is bad, but it just is kinda stale now. *Zap* *Janitor comes in a sweeps away dust pile* |
#16DragonhelmSep 30, 2003 16:15:46 | Originally posted by Daedavias Yipe! ;) Should I mention the Avanesti elves, and how their home fell from the sky when Takhisis stole the world? One thing I am concerned over is the fact that there must be a friggin Minotaur empire on every continent. It's not that it is bad, but it just is kinda stale now. I definitely see where you're coming from. In this case, the empire is NOT Roman-based, and it is in Adlatum's distant past. The minotaurs in the modern era are either in a monastic society, or part of a nomadic barbarian tribe. *Zap* "I number my feathers, for just such an emergency." - Foghorn Leghorn. |
#17daedavias_dupSep 30, 2003 16:45:24 | *Dust pile resumes form of White Robe Elf* Yeah, I suppose having the Minotaur empire being in the distant past will slide for now. Bring it back and its magic missle!:D I DO like the monastic style they live now. They would be unique monks in that they don't focus on mobility, they focus on just pounding you into the floor... Could you explain talker gnomes, though? Sounds like a Solamnic Knights worst nightmare, a cross between a kender and a gnome. |
#18DragonhelmSep 30, 2003 16:52:39 | Originally posted by Daedavias While Tinker Gnomes are the mechanical engineers of Krynn, Talker Gnomes are the social engineers. While Tinker Gnomes reside in Mt. Nevermind, dreaming up their latest invention, Talker Gnomes are in the courts of Adlatum, influencing those in power to see how their social experiments turn out. Ironically, Talker Gnomes are held in high esteem in the courts of Adlatum. Many rulers have a Talker Gnome advisor, who often give what seems to be sound advice. Sometimes it is. Sometimes, it's just to see what would happen. |
#19zombiegleemaxSep 30, 2003 18:28:50 | When this is finished will it be available to everyone (or will we have to buy it) and will it be an "official" addition to Krynn (according to WotC, etc)? Ah, and just where will it be available...either way? |
#20kipper_snifferdoo_02Sep 30, 2003 18:51:51 | Originally posted by vader42xx 1. Yes, it will be available to everyone for free. (Although we do take payment in twizlers.) 2. It will not be "official" but we will use the DLCS and AOM where appropriate. 3. It will be available for download from DragonLance.com :D |

#24zombiegleemaxOct 01, 2003 9:44:25 | I seem to remember when I was surfing the web a few weeks ago that there was a site where someone was developing an Oriental Adventures-based continent on Krynn. Maybe that is one of the ones that was already mentioned, or maybe not... Either way, it could be an interesting idea. **shivers at the thought of ninja kender** |
#25DragonhelmOct 01, 2003 10:04:36 | There's Jeremy Forbing's Oriental Dragonlance Adventures. There was another ODLA project at one point, but that project is no longer in the works. |
#26zombiegleemaxOct 01, 2003 16:55:52 | Thanks for the information...I'll keep the candy payment in mind. ;) So this material won't be backed by any of the Dragonlance higher ups (either in novel or game company areas)? But, still, it sounds like quite a project and I'm looking forward to seeing what you have here. Keep up all the good work. Secondly, as to the original question that started this thread, does anyone know what any of the other 3 continents on Krynn are supposed to be (according to the books) besides Ansalon and Taladas? |
#27zombiegleemaxOct 01, 2003 20:04:16 | Are we going to see new feats and spells and such as well? |
#28DragonhelmOct 01, 2003 22:20:20 | Originally posted by Magus_Extreme For Adlatum? I'm sure we'll have some "crunchy" bits in there, although we'd rather focus more on setting and story. |
#29zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2003 11:05:38 | coolness. hope the project gets finished soon. Sounds awesome! |
#30zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2003 11:23:00 | Any ETA for this project? I'm looking forward to seeing it... |
#31DragonhelmOct 02, 2003 12:48:17 | Originally posted by Sundancer75 Not as of this time. We'll let you know when we're nearing completion. |
#32zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2003 17:46:14 | Besides just the five continents I think there'd be a few small landmasses the size of the British Isles or New Zealand. The homeland of the Tarmak (Brutes) is an example. I think the pre-Greygem Gnomes came from beyond Ansalon and have cousins on Taladas. This would point to a native continent or New Zealand sized landmass that has the gnomish original homeland, asumming they didn't nuke it by now. My confusion is about Krynn's hemispheres. Taladas is in the northern hemisphere and Ansalon is in the southern hemisphere, so if Krynn's axis is the same as Earth then Winter in Taladas will be Summer in Ansalon. Since alot of us live in the Northern Hemisphere of Earth it is understandable that many would get confused by this. North America's first month of summer, June, would be Ansalon's first month of winter (depending on who's chalender you go by). Unless the axis of Krynn is the opposite of Earth's, then the season would be the same. |
#33zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2003 21:15:39 | I think the axis is opposite. This brings up another question. Which direction does the water swirl in Mt Nevermind's bathrooms? huh? huh? |
#34zombiegleemaxOct 02, 2003 21:18:02 | There's probably a guild that is researching that, and trying to figure out how to make it go backwards or straight down. |
#35zombiegleemaxOct 03, 2003 5:56:31 | Originally posted by Magus_Extreme Why should it ? Ansalon is in the southern hemisphere which has the one effect, that the suns daily journey would be from east to north to west (presumed that krynn's spin is the same as earth's) |
#36zombiegleemaxOct 03, 2003 14:58:52 | So....... are the Sakarran minotaurs going to be like the seafaring minotaurs of the Kazelati? Because if they are, I expect Krynn will tremble at the thought of another minotaur armada raging across the Krynnish seas. Kiri-Jolith forbid if they unite with the blood sea minotaurs and the league of minotaurs. WW? |
#37DragonhelmOct 03, 2003 15:10:33 | Originally posted by Fangorn_Bozak Nope. The Sakarran minotaurs are very much land-based. In fact, I would think they would curse the sea, after the Great Wave wiped out their once-great empire. |
#38kipper_snifferdoo_02Oct 03, 2003 16:31:38 | Yeah, the sea is pretty much the domain of the elves and the dwarves. ;) |
