I know that some people feel that the Druid is out of place in a SpellJammer setting. I remember someone reccomending a sort of spce Druid that could turn into Abberations instead of Animals. And had more space based spells. I think this would be a cool idea, and was wondering if such a thing exists.

I have set to create such a core class for my campaign and place it on my web site the Shattered Fractine, presenting the Void Shifter. Hope that works for you, as is it not the final copy as I need to put more Supernatural Abilities for the class.

Night Druid has worked up some 2e versions of druids which are pretty cool. Check Beyond the Moons for that.

Druids fit into Spelljammer perfectly. Imagine a druid, learning that infinite Material Plane worlds exist, seperated from one another by the Flow, waiting to be discovered....why, any true druid would salivate at the very idea of seeing how Nature functions throughout the Known Spheres!

--indeed, a druid might be fascinated by phlogiston wildlife NB

i cant remember if 2nd ed druid was still enough of a spellcaster to man the helm of a spelljammer....If they were, then why not treat a druid just like a cleric and have her/him fly the ship for a few hours a day?

Anyone that could cast spells could man a helm, including druids, clerics, mages, bards, and even high level rangers & paladins.

So was it the restriction on regaining spells why the druid had problems in space?
Just trying to see why some people would think the druid is not good in wildspace.

I dont know, they just di not fit for mre. And i have read a lot of Lovecrfat, so i believ space to be filled with things that most Druids would consider abominations against nature. And i like the Voidshifter class a lot too.
