#1Brom_BlackforgeOct 08, 2003 8:47:06 | Some of you may have found this already, but I wanted to post here to let the rest of you know. I was curious about how non-fans view Greyhawk, so I started a thread in the Future Releases forum to discuss it. I also thought that would be a good place to list ideas about future products. If there's something you'd like to see, why not add a note in the Future Releases forum? Click here . |
#2Brom_BlackforgeDec 02, 2003 8:58:00 | I just bumped up a couple of Greyhawk threads over in the Future Releases forum. Couldn't hurt to go over there and make some noise, could it? |

There are some very thoughtful and lucid comments, after the initial rush of flaming died down. I understand the fears of an official World of Greyhawk Campaign Setting hardcover. I know that many people have developed and filled in all of the Greyhawk gaps with their own creative devices - many of which are very, very well done (I'm talking about Canonfire! and other online GH sources). So I sympathize with those freelance creators who might experience, "This harcover flies in the face of my setting as I've developed it!" But, I will still appreciate such a publication. Of course, as Delglath mentioned in the above noted thread, WotC or any other licensed publisher needs to be careful selecting the project manager and writers. But, I digress. I think a thorough, current edition, hardcover sourcebook for the setting is a teriffic idea. I snatch up every GH item I can find. And, like FR, develop and issue trade-paperback supplements. If a publisher did this, maybe they could revitalize the demand for the pre-written adventures of the "Return to ..." style. I think it soounds good. But, I'm not a businessman, just a D&D player. |

#6zombiegleemaxDec 02, 2003 12:32:12 | Originally posted by Brom Blackforge It hurt quite a bit actually, I see a lot of people throwing around unfounded cliches and outright falsehoods about the setting, and others begging for a book that already exists. The LGG is everything that 9 out of 10 people are demanding. Hardcovers and fancy art are not the be all end all of rpg publishing. The stores around here have big stacks of LGGs sitting around gathering dust, the book went out of print, what's that tell you? Tells me it didn't sell as well as Hasbro hoped. If you want more Greyhawk product, buy what's available, and encourage others to do the same. That's the only thing Hasbro is sure to listen to. |
