just out of curiosity would any of you out there know or have any ideas or theories, about what this fames head of the conclave did before he became head of the conclave and a archmagus. there is a small quote in Brothers in arms that might suggest that he was a farmers son

" by the look of her, Par-Salian thought - he knew something about donkeys, though few would have believed it - the ornery beast was contemplating rolling on the ground."

So what do the great minds of DL message board think ;)

This is an interesting point you have brought up. It would explain why he chose Raistlin to become the sword in the upcoming war of the lance. They had the same background probably...growing up poor and having to go through the same pains....makes sense...Par -salian comes across as someone who had to work very hard for everything he has achieved...not like some person who came from a rich family and had everything handed to him. Good point.

I always thought the implied love affair between him and Ladonna was intriguing. Its only brushed upon in thier conversations, but what a white robe and a black robe were doing together and their subsequent working relationship into later life would make an interesting story. Was it ever elaborated upon in some other books?

I don't think so that love affair i think will always be a mistery. But they could have been childhood lovers at there mage school

Unfortunatly the only things we know for sure are that
Par-salian and Ladonna were lovers in their youth (doesn't state when) and that they still hold some kind of affection for each other, no matter how weak it turns out to be.
Both things are stated and hinted in legends, (in on the last chapters of book1) and it is also in DLA.

I would like to see a book about their youth, and then again not. There must still be mysteries for us to think, or some of DL's charm would be lost.

what happened to the mage who discorved raistlin?

I don't recall it, but I think his name was Antimodes or something.

Antimodes also appears at the beginning of 'Brothers-in-Arms', but since I've yet to finish that book, I don't know if he reappears. If he doesn't, then I think he's pretty much just gone poof in the histories.

I also don't know what the guy had against Modes either.
