#1zombiegleemaxOct 15, 2003 21:15:46 | Most Greyhawkers love Living Greyhawk Journal. I've personally found what they have been writing in there to be excellent. I would love to see more content of course. One of my current problems is that I dont buy Dungeon magazine, so now I miss out on LGJ. I wonder would they be able to produce LGJ in PDF form and charge a few bucks for it. Maybe even pull it out of Dungeon and do a bi-monthly PDF dedicated to LGJ. I would happily hand over cash for all-Greyhawk content PDFs. While I prefer print, a PDF version might be a lot easier to deal with. They could be sold easily over the net. They might be able to put extra content in, for things like more NPC description (playing pieces), new prestige classes, new city descriptions etc. Okay I'll stop druelling. I realise there is a cost in puttin that content together, nd producing artwork and maps etc., but when sold for a fair amount over the net, perhaps it would work? Are current PDF products making money? There is a piracy issue, but I would have though loyal Greyhakers would get behind it. Any thoughts? |

However, a PDF version just might work... A bi-monthly, 32 pager as a subscription only (selling per issue would probably be too risky, unless the overheads were absorbed through somebody like RPGNow... but I doubt Paizo would work with them) service with payments via credit card and PayPal, I personally think, could be a goer. The real problem is getting such a project taken seriously by those in charge... I suggest getting as many people together to come to the Greytalk chat on Thursday and through channels we'll pull Erik in and propose it to him. You never know, it might just work... |
#3Brom_BlackforgeOct 16, 2003 9:21:49 | I wouldn't want to see the Living Greyhawk Journal pulled out of Dungeon (except to put it back into Dragon - just so it's in one of them!), but I would like to see more of the content made available in .PDF format. They've already done some of that on the Living Greyhawk website, but they're way too slow - or too stingy. Last time I checked, I think there were three .PDFs available, but how many LGJs have there been? Twenty? If you want something that's not on the website yet - like the location details for the City of Greyhawk in LGJ #2 - your only option is to check eBay, since it's not available to download and there aren't any back issues available from RPGA. (At least, in that example, the map itself is available on Denis Tetrault's website, if not the details about the locations.) Of course, for some of the newer ones, you can still get Dragon or Dungeon back issues, but not for long. So yes, definitely, give us more LGJ .PDFs. (Please?) |
#4zombiegleemaxOct 16, 2003 23:45:57 | Yes I assumed that from an economical point of view, a printed magazine was a no go-er, which is why I suggested pdf. 32 page bi-monthly sounds like heaven, though I'd settle for whatever they thought was feasible. At least this way there is no printing costs, no distribution costs. You will need a secure website to sell it on, but you might even be able to borrow some space on someone elses (paizo or wizards?). They could do a trial run of three (6 months), pay in advance and see if it works. It just seems so feasible. And if nothing else it would stop those pesky greyhawkers whinging all over the net about how the core setting is not supported properly.;) |

#6zombiegleemaxOct 19, 2003 4:54:56 | OF course, lot of gamers want old Living greyhawk journals... and when the officials don't offers them want they want, the unofficials is here... Have a check on e-mule (or e-donkey), you won't be deceived. |
