HAve you guys seen this thing yet? 288 page hardcover being made by wizards, detailing everything you ever wanted to know (and some things you didn't want to know) about dragons. what makes them tick, what they think, so on. Also has dragon prestige classes, feats, advanced dragons (fourth time now that we've seen the rules on advancing a dragon into epic in a WotC product), and more.

My question is, as krynn's dragons are different, at least mentally, what do you think this product has to offer us? Also, you think wizards'll pull some of the dragon feats from the DLCS into this?

Speak what you think. I'm staying neutral at this point, even if the product looks awesome.

Krynn's dragons really aren't all that different from those of other worlds. Certainly there are some minor tweaks and characterizations which have come about based on individual dragons in the novels such as Skie, Onyx and Cyan, but there wouldn't be any major problems if people used the standard Monster Manual dragons as-is, which is really what the Dragonlance Campaign Setting assumes.

Dragonlance was created to feature and showcase the standard D&D dragons, so I think that if anything in the Draconomicon catches your fancy, and you can come up with a decent way of using it in the setting which doesn't rewrite a chunk of continuity, then go for it. It looks like a pretty cool book!

Cheers,
Cam

10 prestiege classes some for fighting dragons, some for fighting along side...

Either could be useful in a DL campaign, I just hope there isn't a replacement for the Dragon Rider or something else that could be exploited in combination for it.

I plan on using the Draconomicon in my DL campaign. I always tried to play out the personalities of the dragons much like the ones described in the Novels, but I figure this particular book will provide me with some depth and ideas that I never had before. I try not to use to many dragons as that I have always felt that I played dragons wrong. With this up comming book, I feel that I may know enough to pull them off the way they were inteded to be run.

The Dragon Lords are the only odd-reptiles-out. Of course, that all depends on the time period. Now if the Draconomicon details ariel combat for 3.5, it would be of great use in a War of the Lance campaign. I wouldn't make the dragons of Krynn much different from any other, though there are some different alliances at the least. The chromatic/metallic hatred wouldn't be as pronounced I would think.

Doesn't the DLCS already do that?

Yes, the DLCS has the rules for ariel combat, but the Draconomicon is supposed to expand that information, far as I know.
