Well i play (A)D&D since ... about 8 years now but never got in touch with the dragonlance setting. No novels, no games - nothing.

However, i start to play in a DL campaign in the next weeks, and so i have plenty of questions! I flipped through the DLCS book but couldn't find any of the Faerunian planetouched races. Don't they exist on Krynn (thats the world's name, isn't it?)?

What is the pantheon like in DL ? Is there anything similar to the Mulhorandi pantheon ?

I noticed there are no paladins in the book. Does that mean you can't play them ?

Don't get me wrong, i just want to play a quite DL tuned character and not a "Dude who came here through a portal from Faerûn".

As you might have guessed, i usually play in the Realms.

Thx in advance ;)

AFAIK, planetouched don't exist. At least I've never seen any mention of Krynnish planetouched.

The pantheon is as follows:
Deities of Light
Paladine*, LG (basic good deity and god of elves pre-War of Souls)
Branchala, CG (god of music and bards and god of elves post-War of Souls)
Habbakuk, NG (nature deity)
Kiri-Jolith, LG (war deity)
Majere, LG (god of monks and scholars)
Mishakal, NG (goddess of healing)

Deities of Twilight
Gilean, N (basic neutral deity)
Chislev, N (nature goddess)
Reorx, N (god of blacksmiths, dwarves and gnomes)
Shinare, LN (deity of trade)
Sirrion, CN (deity of fire)
Zivilyn, N (god of philosophers)

Deities of Darkness
Takhisis*, LE (basic evil deity)
Chemosh, NE (god of death)
Hiddukel, CE (god of dishonest merchants)
Morgion, NE (god of diseases)
Sargonnas, LE (god of minotaurs and war)
Zeboim, CE (nature goddess)

Deities of Magic
Solinari, LG (god of white magic)
Lunitari, LN (goddess of red magic)
Nuitari, LE (god of black magic)

*If your game is set after the War of Souls, these two gods don't exist.

So no, there isn't an equilevant for the Mulhorandi pantheon.

Paladins are pretty much replaced by the Knights of Solamnia, but you could ask your DM if he'd/she'd let you play one.

Some other things you might want to know:

No lycanthropsy, as per the disease (some similar effects have been noted through magic)

No orcs. At all. Period. Despite the kendertale about a half-orc.

No Halflings - Kender sorta replace them, but frankly Kender are much cooler.

No Drow. None. There are 'dark elves', but they're outcast elves. No actually dark-skinned and living underground, with pale white hair and reddish eyes. Or whatever.

Krynn is the world, Ansalon is the continent you'll probably be in. Just good to know.

Find out what the Cataclysm is, if you don't already. In fact, find out all major historical events that are important to know. It's helpful ;)

There is no Mithril in Dragonlance. I don't know if there's Adamantite, but I don't think so. Instead you've got Dragonmetal and Star Metal.

The currency system is no longer Gold-Silver-Copper. It is now Steel-Bronze/Iron-Silver-Gold. By tens, as usual.

Other than that, without knowing the era you're playing in, I can't offer much more in the way of helpful hints.

Not quite. Silver is 1/20th of a steel piece, not 1/10th. So, if a steel piece is a dollar, a silver piece is a nickel, not a dime.

No plane touched races, as there are on Faerun.

No halflings, Kender pretty much replace halflings on Krynn.

No Orc's/Half Orc's-Ogre's pretty much replace them.

Paladin's do exist but don't really play much of a part in Krynn, the Knights of Solamnia have mostly replaced Paladin's in DragonLance.

Steel is the main unit of currency, gold is worth little.

No Drow in DragonLance, the term 'Dark Elf' is used to connotate a "cast out" evil Elf.

No lycanthropy.

No psionics or psionic creatures.*

The DLCS pretty much leaves Psionics untouched and up to the DM's discretion as to whether to include them, but as Psionics have always been strictly rules out in all prior editions of DragonLance few DM's utilize Psionics.

And not even necessarily an evil outcast, just outcast. Alhana Starbreeze and Porthios Kanan are both of good alignment, and they were still declared dark elves.

Well, noone ever said there were no Genasi or Planetouched...

They just haven't been described in any novels.

Afterall, Krynn has Elemental and Outer Planes, whose to say that the denizens of those planes never bear children to mortal mothers.

No, there aren't whole lands of these beings, but I think a Planetouched character could fit well in Dragonlance.

I think planetouched should fit well as those who have been touched by a divine hand at birth. You know, as chosen of the gods. Kinda like paladins.

I use Paladins in the Qualinesti and Silvanesti realms as the elven form of the Knights of Solamnia.

Thx a lot dudes ;)

I think we play when the god paladin is dead, but before all magic is gone... dunno how these ages are called.

Anything to say about that specific age ?

Alright.

You are playing in the 5th Age after the War of Souls, an exciting time if I do say so myself...

For decades the gods have been missing, and just now they have all returned in their full glory! Sadly, Paladine and Takhisis are no longer amongst the divine host, but it happens, right?

Before the gods returned, humans had dealt with the loss of magic by learning Wild Sorcery(Sorcerers) and Mysticism(Mystics). These magical powers came from within, and not from a divine agent. Now that the gods have returned, Divine(Clerical) magic is back as is High Sorcery(Wizards). So there are four types of magic around! This will eventually lead to conflict. Wizards believe that High Sorcery is the only truely safe Arcane magic and will most likely attempt to subjugate the sorcerers and force them to stop their practices. Sorcerers on the other hand won't have any of that!

A few Dragon Overlords still rule the land. The center of the continent is dominated by the Great Black Dragon Sable and her evil swamp of death. The island nation of Southern Ergoth, home of the Kagonesti elves, is dominated by the glacial powers of the huge White Dragon Frost. Lesser dragonlords like Mohrlex now have room to expand finally as three of the major Dragon Overlords of the past died during the War of Souls.

The Knights of Solomnia, a large group of goodly knights were, beginning to lose their honorable ways, but now their deity of honor and combat has returned and who knows how that'll change them.

The minotaurs have launched a massive land invasion of Ansalon, capturing the Silvanesti elven city of Silvanost, and planning their moves on the rest of the land.

The Qualinesti lands of Qualinost was destroyed by the dying corpse of the Green Overlord Beryl.

Many kender have been changed by the deceased Red Dragon Overlord Malys, made paranoid and nervous, their curiosity gone.

The Desolation, a place of horrible beasts and destroyed landscape refuses, to return to its original state despite Malys' death.

The draconians have formed a nation called Teyr and plan to live there as a true race and flourish.

The Ogres of Blode have discovered the process of transforming into the powerful Ogre Titans. They plan to conquer all of Ansalon under the rule of these massive blue skinned monstrosities.

And I';m spent!
