#1zombiegleemaxOct 22, 2003 8:02:56 | Ok, I know this has been brought up before. I was playing with Etools and was trying to make a Trader (as an Expert, apologies to the Silly Frog), and I was pondering what would a Trader have? I had the 10 skills as: Appraise, Bluff (Ahhh yes Sir, this sword is of the finest quality, made from the best Obsidian of Makla!), Diplomacy, Knowledge local, Knowledge geography, Sense motive, Handle Animal, Ride, and Survival (for the caravaners) I think I had speak language and literacy as well. Now I was wanting to ask the masses what should be skills for a Trader. I could understand maybe sacrificing Survival, not sure to add profession or craft. A Rogue has the skills but has all the extras. I was just curious. Thanks all |

YEP they found something smelly* *the silly frog approach to see what the wardogs found and almost feint at the sign of ...* Muhahahaha! RESISTANCE IS FUTILE, YOUR LIFE AS IT AS BEEN.... IS OVER. FOR THIS TIME FORWARD, YOU WILL SERVICE... TRADER PrC or Core class. Btw, you are trying to build a PC with the NPC expert class? It will be challenging if this is so, because these arent as effective as the PC classes. If no, GEEZ !! Get to my site and snatch the trader pdf :D Noooo btw, I am going to redo it when I get some other time. Right now, I am finishing another projects and am very soon to be completed. It as about 15 pages and begin to be quite interesting. I will need some numbers crunchers to help me balance this out, but the text is almost done. |

#4zombiegleemaxOct 22, 2003 10:42:48 | Originally posted by Sean Dickson My general skill list suggestion: Appraise Bluff Diplomacy Profession (trader) Sense Motive Speak Language (taken more times) This can be beefed up with additional skills, which are depending on the trader's business, like Handle animal for wrangler type. Survival and Knowledge (geography) is neccessary for the small caravan leader type, but they are not needed for a city-based trader. They can take Knowledge (local) and knowledge (culture) instead. Some rank in Craft can't hurt for the specialised trader, like craft (weaponsmith) for arms dealers. |
#5KamelionOct 23, 2003 1:44:25 | There was a d20 modern version of a trader class in the most recent Dragon magazine. Or was it Dungeon? (Am at work - can't recall). Some bits of that could maybe be nabbed and reworked. Would love to get back to work on traders but don't really have much time at the moment. (And I should probably post something from my oft-promised Scorched Plateau write-ups first too...Moon Runner write-up is finished and ready to go...) |
