#2psionicpally_dupOct 22, 2003 20:42:40 | There as been no official statement by Wizards about a 3.5 Planescape setting. |
#3factol_rhys_dupOct 22, 2003 20:45:25 | Yes to absolutely everything you just said, cutter. Yes, planescape rules. Yes, planescape is the best campaign setting. Yes, Manual of the Planes cannot begin to do Planescape justice. Yes, there is a project to convert it into 3rd edition. www.planewalker.com is the new homepage and is undergoing a huge project to produce free web books for the setting, but it's far from complete. You can get the chapters that have races, feats, skills, and factions so far. As for monsters, you'll have to look in the Monster Manual(s), Fiend Folio, Manual of the Planes, Book of Vile Darkness, Book of Exaulted Deeds, and so forth.(The delightful modrons can be found in a web supplement for MotP). Some online sites should have unofficial conversions that you can use. But the best part of planescape was that it went so beyond the game rules. So many of the old books are still great because they describe the characters and places of the planes. And the MotP, for all its planescapular shortcomings, does have to get some credit for thoroughly describing planar effects for all of the planes. |

#5factol_rhys_dupOct 22, 2003 22:24:58 | by the way, www.ps3e.com is an unupdated sister site for planewalker that is largely a collection of fan-submitted material. There's a link to it from planewalker on the sideboard. That's got spells, items, and monsters. A lot of monsters. A lot of spells and items from the computer game "Planescape: Torment" (don't even think about getting anyone started on Torment and how great it was unless you're ready for some long and confusing ramblings). |
#6zombiegleemaxOct 23, 2003 3:38:27 | On the subject of Planescape: Torment: If you can find a copy, I highly reccomend picking one up and giving it a go. Like everything in planescape, it's the process that's fun, not the reward at the end. It'll also probably only cost you a whopping five bucks or so, out of your local game store's bargain bin. I consider it pretty close to cannon for my own p&p planescape game. The flavor, theme, and art are all very close to that presented in the official 2e books. |
#7incenjucarOct 23, 2003 9:56:35 | Thankfully, Torment is very difficult to not find, because its in those discount double-packs (It's so good, they immortalized it. You don't see them doing that with FF8, now do ya?). I've seen it at: Target, Wal-Mart, Best Buy, FunCoLand, EB, and the like. |
#8zombiegleemaxOct 23, 2003 15:34:49 | Are you kidding? Last time I looked for it, Gamestop, Best Buy, Babbages, EBX, Wal-Mart and Target were all devoid of PS:T goodness. I finally had to have my cousin burn a copy. Which I don't feel bad about, since I'd already bought (and subsequently played, and then lost) it previously, twice. I know it was in those double packs, but at least around here, there was not a single copy anywhere. |
#9incenjucarOct 23, 2003 16:45:40 | Eh. May just be my area, then. This is, after all, the Bible Belt of California... Fresno's a fairly large city, but only has ONE gaming store, and its tucked away from the current major comerce center. |
