#1zombiegleemaxOct 23, 2003 3:58:40 | Hi, I'm in a group of guys that for the past 2 years have been playing D&D 3.0 and now D&D 3.5. It seems as if our game has become a bit "stagnant" so I decided to get the new Gamma World core rule book this week to see if it would get us back into RPGing. I also picked up the D20 core rule book...wow...$85 for a new game(2 books). Anyway, I have skimmed thru both books and have many questions... 1) How do you feel about their "wealth" system? It seems very wierd to me, but I can understand why they did it. Do you guys use it? What restrictions do you put on it? 2) In D&D we are always being healed by a cleric or with potions...There dosnt seem to be anything I can find that "heals" in this system. How do you keep characters going after a few good fight in a hostile environment? 3) Am I missing something? Throughout the entire book they keep showing pictures of a mutant "fish like hero" with ski like feet. They also show lots of hands for feet...feet for hands...and a guy with the ability to stretch his limbs like a "snake man". Well...I looked at the table of possible mutations (sadly it is VERY small) and there are no options for anything close to the mutations in the pictures(ski feet) snakeish neck etc.). Again, I just bought the book and i could be missing some major things. But at the moment, it seems as if the mutant options are small and limited at best...this makes me sad. 4) Do you guys incorporate creatures (monsters) from the D&D world into your game? Please let me know what you think. Thanks |

#3zombiegleemaxOct 23, 2003 5:49:01 | Originally posted by DDaegon No, there are no alignments in D20 Modern. What do I think? Personally, I don't miss them. I actually don't like D&D in any of its forms, despite having written D20 material for two companies now. Alignments to me are just one o those annoying bits that you don't need (and which the vast majority of players don't actually pay attention to anyway - I've seen supposedly lawful good characters murder and pillage with the best of them). It not being in D20M is no great loss as far as I am concerned. |

It can be toward an organization (FBI or KGB), an entity (Buddha or Cthulhu), or principle (Good or Evil). Allegiance is more relatable in the modern world, as it helps to understand where you loyalty or adoration lies as well as how you conduct yourself, whether you're a member of said organization or just a wannabe (a Star Wars fan living the code of the Jedi). |

Some of them are herbs, poisonous, soapy, threadish, &c. Just because 'it isn't in the Rulebook' - but is not denied either - should not stop you from adding it into your campaign. I now have an NPC skill to prepare plant-based concoctions. In effect, a Potion-maker. My notes from above (and a pass through the 3.0 Rulebooks) describe what sort of concoctions can be made. |

I think a Digester and an Aicherai (sp?) are good GW material. The dinosaurs, too. You may want to confine them to an Ancient Zoo (which covered hundreds of square miles) or the other side of a big river (because they can't swim) if you aren't going to want to run into them every other day. |
