#1zombiegleemaxOct 23, 2003 19:20:37 | As I'm sure you all know, the Key of Destiny module's release date has been pushed back to December. Unfortunately, my players are all chomping at the bit and I'd like to do something to "tide them over." What I was thinking was perhaps a few background sessions that lets them (the characters) get to know each other and sets the scene for the Key of Destiny. Perhaps a few mini-adventures, or an expansion upon the Sylvan Key adventure from the DLCS. Any and all suggestions are welcome, especially anything that will help me to introduce a new player to the world of Krynn. Thank you all ahead of time, Shade |

What races do you have in your group? What classes? Do you have a budding Wizard of High Scorcery? Someone hoping to be a Knight of Solamnia? Right now is a perfect time to delve into character backgrounds. If you have a Kender PC take the party to Hylo (though you might strongly hint that they might want to find a place to stash the stuff they want to keep before they go there, if they want to keep it that is.) Or on a more serious note travel to and trough one of the areas of the world devistated by one of the Dragon Overlords. Perhaps they can help out the Clergy of a newly founded temple to one of the Gods struggling to get people to once again trust in the gods that have 'abandoned them twice'. Encounter a squatter village of Elves living barely better than Gully Dwarves because everything they had was either destroyed in Qualinost, or captured in Silvanost. Elves in rags living in poverty will jar the newbie from preestablished fantasy stereotypes right quick. Or if your feeling particularly saucy take them to Mount Nevermind... Tinker Gnomes and an insane Dragon Overlord if fun for the whole family. |

You could have encounters with some of the dwarves of Thoradin, ogres, goblin mountain tribes, and mercenaries, and there's always a lot of fun to be had in guarding what amounts to a merchant caravan. When the Key of Destiny comes out, you'll be all ready for the heroes to arrive at Pashin, deal with Pegrin (from the Sylvan Key), and get started on the events of the campaign module. Cheers, Cam |
#4zombiegleemaxOct 24, 2003 11:42:02 | Thank you for the suggestions, please keep them coming. I can really use all the help I can get at the moment, my planning has been sparse because I'm very busy with school, work, and writing. Right now the PCs are: Artemisia, female Qualinesti ranger (she's not familiar with DL) Shade, male kender rogue (an NPC) Adamant, male hill dwarf fighter Bastion, male human fighter (aspiring knight) Tavien, male half-elf wizard (aspiring white-robed WoHS) Meredith, male human bard As a note, the group prefers in depth role playing. Again, thank you for the suggestions and please keep them coming. Shade |
#5zombiegleemaxOct 25, 2003 10:25:44 | At the beginning of the game, not all the characters will know eachother...and the ones that do will not be best of friends, so please post any suggestions about fostering trust between the characters. Here are the relationships that already exist: Shade was released from imprisonment in Sanction (because he claimed to be a Tasslehoff Burrfoot) by Bastion. Shade had spent the last few weeks in the cell with Adamant, who had been dragged in by the kender while he was drunk (the kender claimed it was Tas in disguise). Artemisia may be familiar with Bastion from seeing him around Sanction, but not necessarily know him. Her player is still not sure if she wants to be known by anyone or just be a new and unfamiliar face. Meredith was a citizen of Sanction and has been following the knights around, including Bastion, for the last few weeks trying to come up with a short epic about the Battle of Sanction (is that what it was called?). Not really sure where or how Tavien is going to fit in yet, but any suggestions are welcome. Please ask if anyone wants anymore information, if you think it will help with suggestions and such.
