Athas is a big world, of which we have only reliable information of an area the size of what, Utah? Maybe CONUS, I don't recall, either way... there's LOTS of room for things -quoted by StarGazer

How big is Athas?? we all know that every DS map put together doesn't even cover the*continent* of the Tyr region and beyond.
According to the map of the valey of fire and ash there is land on the other side of the silt sea(top and butom right corners). Logicaly there had to be villages cities even capitals bording the sea. Probably had trading routes between the tyr region and the FarRegion with merchant vessels ( I am refering to the Green age)

The cleansing Wars could of put an end to the relationship of the 2 *continents*( for abvious reasons) and when Borys the Dragon settled in Ur Draxa he may had 2 vast region to replenish his yearly slave toll.

etc. etc. etc.

what do you think!!

There were most definitely civilizations over there. What they were like, I really dunno, but I always fancied an "Asian"-style region, with samurai and shugenja, and the whole lot.

In fact, I even went so far as to state that the city-state of Nibenay started out as a Far East colony that attained independence, while retaining it's Asian feel.

--then again, I used monks in my DS campaigns, so what do I know NB

You might be interested in the Dragon Samourai and the Lion Monk(both prestige classes) found in the new WotC Miniatures Handbook!! Are they all humans??

I assume you have Asian Dragon Kings(Emprer) or the like!!

Also, are they from the Rebirth(Rhulisti ancestry)-it is said the Rhulisti were the only intelligent race on athas in the BA-

I for my part like to imagine an Egyptian like civilisation which during the Cleansing wars secluded themselves (for abvious reasons) far into a realm of verdant canyon-like labyrinth with a large river (called The Great WYrm) serpenting its way around the canyons. All around that Realm vast defiled areas of the C.Wars are still abondant. I also imagine Dragon-pharos; very powerfull magicaly but cannot bestow spells. Instaid they each have a great Harem (wives) to birth Dragon-childs who are all sorcerers.
The list goes on......

There are peoples which are working on different parts of athas. I know afghan is working on the silt archipelago and someone else work on a huge penensula. Just go to my page (in the signature) and go to the HUGE link section. These should be in the 3ed links.

In my campaigns, the Far East region was pretty heavily settled by nonhumans. While there was nothing unique to that region, all the races of the Far East had a very strict "Asian" feel to them. Psionics was not highly practiced, instead it was clerical magic that dominated the East throughout the Green Age.

Because of it's heavy nonhuman population, the Far East was especially ravaged by the Cleansing Wars. The Eastern elves, who held a vast, faux Chinese empire, were all wiped out, along with Eastern dwarves (who called themselves korobokuru), Eastern giants (who called themselves the oni), and so on.

In the end, the only nonhuman race to survive in the Far East was the thri-kreen, who were adopted into the surviving human city-states as a class of warrior-slave.

After the Champions rebelled against Rajaat, Borys claimed the entire Far East region for his own. Every city-state in that region was ruled by a templar-king called a "Reverend Emperor." The Dragon was worshipped as a "Beast of Resplendent Wisdom" (drakes were also considered to be Beasts of Resplendent Wisdom)., a divine animal that men and women should give prayer and veneration to.

After the Prism Pentad, Far East society collapsed, as the Dragon's templars could no longer cast spells. The defiler caste, known as the Viziers, rose to power in most city-states, and are now seeking ways to become Beasts of Resplendent Wisdom.

--and that's in a nutshell NB

What's on the other side of Athas?

The Tsolyani Empire - the Empire of the Petal Throne...
