Thought this would be a good counter-thread now that the BOED is making the scene. Of course, this only concerns Greyhawk personages and, naturally, documentation makes a good argument even better.

Any candidates?

I'll have to research Iuz the Evil again to pick one, but the Major Bonehart members and some of Iuz's agents will be top contenders. I will post my pick after a little reading.

Turin Deathstalker might qualify too...

He's an assassin, a vile one at that; but one we all sorta kinda like.

Umm... like, there's no contest, dudes. Ivid is the vilest of them all. The only real argument is WHICH Ivid is the vilest.

I can't remember the details, but I think one of them is particularly vile and had his entire family, bar a couple of siblings, slaughtered. He also animated many of his enemies, and friends, as the dreaded animii and consorted with fiends on a regular basis (hence the alternate name of the Malachite Throne, the Fiend-Seeing Throne). I think the same one was also responsible for Spidasa's torture and the invention of the everlasting death (ring of regeneration, torturer tortures victim to minus HP, ring brings them back... rinse & repeat) and the Screaming Column (IIRC, a column of writhing faces that absorbs people into it for an eternity of pain).

I'm sure there's more but it's been ages since I read the passages on the Ivids. I recommend everyone do so by downloading the free text from WotC called, 'Ivid the Undying', if you haven't already done so. Carl was a sick, sick, sick human-being. That's why I love his work :D

Yeah the Ivid's where definatly up there with being some sick lil' monkeys, actually it might be fun later to stat some of them up with 3.5 and BOVD bits for the modern age. Definatly one part of the world my characters never tried to have anything to do with!
The drow in E-Cinlu where some bad buggers as well, bad as in doing a lot of drugs and sleeping with close relatives, demons, visitors (or all of the above) type of bad, but Im sure such material would have the almighty forces of censorship frothing at the mouth if it ever made print.
As for other nasties, Im sure the Scarlet Bro's have lots of things crawl out of their 'experiment breeding' pits that probably shouldnt see the light of day and much less print anytime soon. Add to that the monks, priests and wizzo's that run around that part of the world are not people you should mess with lightly either.

There was also another race of humans who where based on the aztec/inca/maya civilisations who had a pantheon of gods that where all naughty, but their name escapes me.

Erac's Cousin. Originally a lawful good, human, dual-class fighter/magic-user. He was tricked into freeing the demon prince Fraz Urb Luu from his prison in the Greyhawk Castle dungeons. He was captured, taken to the demon's plane, tortured, lost all of his favorite magic items, etc. After he escaped from the demon, he blamed the gods for his suffering. He became evil, made a pact with a devil, killed and robbed all of his former associates and henchmen, burned his stronghold to the ground, and wondered the Flanaess killing and robbing where he could.

I would have to say Vecna, especially after reading the graphic novel about his early days.

I'm not too versed on my Greyhawk lore, but I'd pick either Iuz or Vecna.

I'm very familar with what little exploits Vecna had in Ravenloft, as well as the modules Vecna Lives! and Die, Vecna Die!

I mean, that dude got stuff written up in the basic AD&D 2E DMG! Doesn't that count for something?

Vecna could have taught Acererak a thing or two about being evil.

Iggwilv the mother of Iuz could be a contender. Vecna owe's some of his vileness to his good buddy Kas. I know Kas went a little heavy with the sword use on him but at least Vecna acheived godhood. What did Kas get? If you ask me Vecna had it coming. LOL.

If you ask me I smell something vile in the good ole Theocracy of the Pale. Sure they preach righteousness, but who really benefits from their view on things. How dare the Pholtus priests try and start a monotheistic religion. If monotheism isn't vile then I don't know what is!

I thought Acererak's plan to become one with the plane of negative energy was pretty foul...
