#1zombiegleemaxNov 08, 2003 13:11:06 | I was at the local comic book shop, sifting through their old DnD stuff to see if they had any old PS stuff. After far too long, I finally hit pay dirt. Behind a copy of "Defenders of the Faith" they had a large number of old modules. I can really only afford one at the moment and I was wanting to know iwhat you all suggest. The modules were: The Well of the Worlds Harbinger House Doors to the Unknown Something WIld Deva Spark In the Abyss Well, what do you think? |
#2bob_the_efreetNov 08, 2003 16:10:40 | I have not acquired any Planescape modules, but the Well of the Worlds sounds cool. |
#3zombiegleemaxNov 08, 2003 16:36:23 | Hi to everyone, new to the post! well, it depends on your type of campaign; anyway, my absolute favorite here is Harbringer house, then In the abyss followed by doors to the unknown. But harbringer house is P.S. and hi again to everyone for all. |
#4zombiegleemaxNov 08, 2003 16:39:41 | The thing is I don't want to "Play" them, at least not yet. We're talkiing for information contained within and overall fun of the adventure. |
#5zombiegleemaxNov 08, 2003 16:39:44 | ARGH! |
#6zombiegleemaxNov 08, 2003 19:21:44 | Harbinger House is by far the most creative, cool, and informative of all the modules. It is the GREATEST module EVER. With information on two gate towns and some maps of small sections of sigil.... GREAT. Second to that is Something Wild in my opinion. Another great one that discusses three sects, two planar locals, and a whole bunch of other great stuff. Of course, every module from planescape is great.... especially the ones that you did not list, actually.... Tales from the Infinite Stair, Dead Gods, and Faction War... But, for the same price you would pay for one module by three books in PDF format online.... (Or go to Kazaa and download them all *cough*cough*) |
#7heretic_apostateNov 08, 2003 19:37:48 | Why only afford one? If you go to svgames.com, you could purchase any of those for $4.74 each, though it'd be only a PDF download. As far as I can tell, they have the entire Planescape inventory, with the exception of On Hallowed Ground. |
#8primemover003Nov 08, 2003 19:53:22 | Originally posted by Malondra You guys are kidding right? Beyond the Maps, which are by far the most complete for many of the neighborhoods in the Lower and part of the Lady's Ward, only the Characters introduced are cool... Ah Kesto Brighteyes and A'kin!!! The Module itself was horrible. I tried to run it on 3 different groups of 6 players. Avg level was 4th ot 5th... The one scene where Sougad Lawshredder was supposed to lead them on a perilous rooftop chase ended horribly everytime. Once he was cut down by some quick timed magic missiles and a lucky natural 20 (crit baby, crit), the secon and third parties both killed him on the rooftop with the portal. They cut off his escape (better initiative rolls) and cut him down. One 10th level fighter, even one with some special abilities cannot last long against a well coordinated party of 4th level adventurers in 2nd edition... It was a poorly designed encounter, especially because the adventure hinged on him escaping through the portal. Well of Worlds and Into the Abyss however provided tons of entertainment for my adventurers. Well of worlds has so many good adventures! Blood Storm was awesome, as was the one where Plague-Mort can be lost to the Abyss. L33t Pick up Well of Worlds for sure. Doors to the Unknown looked cool but my copy is missing all the flavor text dialogue by Caravan, an NPC in the Adventure. Does anyone elses copy have the text? |
#9zombiegleemaxNov 10, 2003 13:41:15 | I have to say Harbinger House is my favorite out of that bunch, although you'd probably get more utility from Well of Worlds as it is a collection of shorter adventures. |
#10Shemeska_the_MarauderNov 10, 2003 15:29:32 | Harbinger House, then a tie between Well of Worlds and Doors to the Unknown. Then Something Wild, then Deva Spark, then In The Abyss. In The Abyss was ok, but as far as Planescape modules go, it wasn't my favorite. And it the one module I don't actually own in print form. |
#11zombiegleemaxNov 11, 2003 1:24:51 | Shemeska, You didn't like in the abyss? Really? I found it was a great tie in with the great modron march. A perfect way of getting the doomguard involved in that little adventure anthology. I ran harbinger house. Sougad is one hell of a character. Verry memorable. The rooftop chase was a lot of fun for the players, although they never captured Sougad. Of course, by the time they managed to hit him, he was ready to jump through the portal. |
#12taotadNov 11, 2003 3:46:41 | Anyone know who wrote Harbinger House? Would be interesting to see if the writer's still doing his thing. + |
#13zombiegleemaxNov 11, 2003 7:27:52 | Harbinger House was written by Bill Slavicsek, who is now Director of RPG R&D for Wizards of the Coast. |

#15heretic_apostateNov 11, 2003 11:35:24 | Thought y'all might like to know, there's a special going on at svgames.com, wherein they selected 450 of the TSR/WOTC downloads, and marked them an additional 14% off. For Planescape adventures, that means (and I bough these ): Doors to the Unknown Harbinger House Something Wild Unfortunately, those were the ONLY Planescape items on sale... Though just as well. I spent almost $200 that I can't really afford. |
