I do think I shouldn't add things until I have an objective to them, but in this case, I open an exception: I like that NPC and I want to have her. Just, what would Nostalia be doing outside Borca ? What can be her mission ? Why is she with the players ? What role will she play in the party ? Up to when ? Will she betray them in the end, is she merely trying to gain their confidence for that ? Then, what do the characters have that she can't find somewhere else ? Stu, if you're listening. What did Nostalia do in your campaign ? I learnt to like her in your adventure of the Evil Eye, but never understood why she was in the party. Was it a romantic interest for Caine ? But since she can't really love someone, what did happen to him ? Thank you all in advance. W.C. |

I kept her in Borca, as the players just happened to be passing through. I made her the mistress of her own bordello, and she disposed of Ivana's more lusty enemies (of course Nostalia had her own employees and her own list of clientele). So Nostalia herself only serviced those who were not meant to see the next day. "This Thing Of Ours" |

At this point of the campaign, this was nothing than an introduction to the NPC - she just "happened" to be on her way to the festival, and so was on the boat at the same time. (Presumably she actually was on some special mission from Ivana, but I never detailed that.) The intention was she might be a love interest for Caine - a very frustrating love interest, given her nature! I knew that the PCs would eventually be returning to Borca/Dorvinia, given that Caine was (unwittingly, at the time) the son of Ivan Dilisnya. I had visions of an adventure where Caine was used by Nostalia as a pawn against his own father, or something like that. As it turned out, when I got around to that section of the campaign I opted for something quite different, so Nostalia didn't end up getting used the way I intended (although she did appear briefly). I like her concept, though - if I ran another campaign, I'm sure I would use her! Stu |
