Fireforge Family Question

Nov 17, 2003 22:10:41 Jasper Fireforge is the nephew of Flint Fireforge. Obsidian Fireforge (from Flint's Axe) is the niece of Flint. I'm trying to figure out if they are siblings, or if they are cousins (more likely, IMO).

I know that Obsidian's father is Bernhard Fireforge, if that helps. I just can't figure out who Jasper's father is.

Any ideas on this one?

Somewhere it definately says that Flint had a number of siblings (half a dozen or more), but I cannot recall how many of the others have been named.

Flint's Axe says that Flint has 13 siblings, and lists half a dozen of them.

Nov 18, 2003 21:07:18 Well in Flint the King he mentions his older brother Aylmar Fireforge and Aylmar had a son Basalt.

It also mentions:
Ruberik
Bernhard
Tybalt
Glynnis
Fidelia

I would just select someone, Ruberik is probably as good as any except Aylmar, (he died just prior to the War of the Lance). To be honest I don't think Jasper's father or mothers name was ever really metioned. At least not in any novel. Maybe they have something on him in the Citadel of Light Boxed Set.

Nov 18, 2003 22:38:30 If I recall correctly, Jasper is related to Flint (his uncle) through his mother (Flint's sister). Can't remember where I read this, though - the SAGA adventures featuring Jasper, and his character card in Oak Lords both leave it unmentioned.

I e-mailed Stan! about this, and he says that Jasper's parentage was something that wasn't really developed, from what he remembers.

From what I'm able to find on him in the SAGA products, it only mentions that Jasper is the nephew of Flint.

This is frustrating in a way, but an interesting search in another. I think when I update Obsidian Fireforge's stats for 3e, I'll mention Jasper as a cousin. Obsidian has one sister, but nothing is mentioned of siblings beyond that. Chances are that Obsidian and Jasper are cousins.

Nov 21, 2003 6:37:28 I would say cousins...both for the reasons you've already mentioned Dragonhelm (and others) and for the fact that Jasper's character was never really sure of himself and always gave off much more of an "only child" feel to me. So that would indicate cousins for sure.
