I know their stats make for excellent wizard or sorcerer material, but still... I mean, when I look at Aasimar, they get cool racial adjustments, darkvison and energy resistances at only +1. What do you people think? Do the Irda have too high a level adjustment? Has anyone had any experience playing one or DM'ing a group that had an Irda? What are your thoughts on them? |

#3zombiegleemaxNov 18, 2003 20:18:51 | yeah, their bonuses to int and charisma, combined with their shapeshifting and such, makes them worth the +2 la |
#4zombiegleemaxNov 19, 2003 8:02:13 | I think they're one of the weakest +2 LA races out there. I'm toying with droppping down some of their abilities a little bit, to make them a +1 LA race. As right now, even with their neat stat mods, no one plays them. Aasimar are a more powerful +1 LA race in a lot of ways than the +2 Irda. Yes, I like the flavor that the Irda bring, I just think they're a bit overvalued. |
#5daedavias_dupNov 19, 2003 9:52:33 | Originally posted by Myrridin I'd vote them as more powerful than drow, who are also LA +2. They both have innate abilities, but irda don't face any problems in light, have the ability to shapeshift, etc. Give some examples of +2 LA races that are more powerful. |

Can cast every spell 30 times per day at as a sorcerer of level equal to the Naga Slayer's character level. +1 ECL Naga Slayers gain levels more slowly than standard Player Character races and therefore require more experience. See, that's a more powerful race and it's only +1 LA. :P I actually think the Irda are rather powerful. Not "Higher than +2 ECL powerful," but powerful. I like them and Centaurs. Probably because the Centaur pick is kinda sexy... at least from the waist up. |

#8zombiegleemaxNov 19, 2003 12:28:21 | Originally posted by Daedavias Drow, in my opinion, are more powerful. Innate Spell Resistance of 11+ class level is stronger than the ability to slightly change your shape 3 times a day. The drow innate magical abilites, darkness, fairie fire...I can't remember if there's one more, are at least as good as the Irda ones. Yes, the daylight penalties are a bit of a pain, but they're not that hard to get around either. Granted, the favored class of male drow, as wizard, is horrible. *shrug* It comes down to a judgement call I guess. Though I'd still say the Aasimar are more powerful, No minuses to any stat, resistance to three (?) elements, daylight once per day, darkvision...all sorts of goodies, for only a +1 LA. It strikes me as stronger than the Irda adjustments. |
#9zombiegleemaxNov 19, 2003 15:23:58 | Thanks for the input, guys! I still find them rather wimpy being +2 ECL. Yes, their abilities are nice, but when you look at drow, as one mentioned, they fall WAY behind. Nothing really beats spell resistance 11+ class levels. It's always nice to hear some other people's thoughts on the matter. |
