#1zombiegleemaxNov 18, 2003 4:00:35 | In this campaign I'm in it is VERY monty hall so please bare with me, I have to make a choice. Right now I am a 27th level wizard with a 66 INT. Yes I know that beyond GODLY and the game would not be fun if we all didnt make fun of the godlike abilities we all have. I have in my possession an item that is going to turn me into a Demi-Lich with all abilities and caster levels or a Death-Knight with all abilities and caster levels AND will not be bound to any God what-so-ever. The Death Knight would have some sort of phelactery (spelling) also like the Demi-lich. After you stop laughing try to answer the question. Soth |
#2cam_banksNov 18, 2003 9:25:45 | You mean, should you be a demi-lich or a death knight? Well, you'd make a pretty lousy death knight, since you're a wizard, and demi-liches are just skulls with soul-trapping gems embedded in place of teeth and eyes and don't actually do much of anything. Not really a good future in either. Cheers, Cam |
#3daedavias_dupNov 18, 2003 9:40:46 | Originally posted by Cam Banks Was Fistindantalis(god darnit I hate his friggin name) a demi-lich or just plain lich? I think I have seen both listed for him at one point. And Soth, to answer your question, I would go with the death knight, because then at least you have legs. |
#4cam_banksNov 18, 2003 10:56:12 | Originally posted by Daedavias Originally? In DL3, he's a demi-lich. This is absolutely staggering given that if the heroes actually fought him, they would all be thoroughly dead. Granted, the module gives the party a vorpal sword (one of the things which can harm a demi-lich) but if it wasn't for the fact that the demi-lich form of Fistandantilus completely leaves the heroes alone if they don't do anything to attack it, it'd be a really short saga. Cheers, Cam |
#5Matthew_L._MartinNov 18, 2003 11:31:16 | Originally posted by Daedavias I think both, since except in the most exceptional circumstances, you have to spend years as a lich to gradually wear away to/ascend to demilich status. Matthew L. Martin |
#6zombiegleemaxNov 18, 2003 14:16:51 | Originally posted by Cam Banks I would keep all casting abilities even as a death knight, I guess I was just looking for the one that would prove more beneficial when dealing with special abilities and resistances? Also, like I said this item, whatever UBAH item this DM has thought up would give me the ability to have a body as a demi. Thanks all for the advise. Soth |
#7zombiegleemaxNov 18, 2003 16:56:36 | So, you're a Demilich with a body? In any casem the Death Knight is a Lich for the Fighter cclasses. the Lich's powers are built for casters a Death Knight is built for Fighters. Pick the Lich. |
#8baron_the_curseNov 18, 2003 18:44:26 | Since your character is not a Knight of any Order how is he going to become a Death Knight? Even if you commit some horrid crime why would the gods curse you to be a Death Knight? You’ll probably suffer as some other form of undead. And by the way a character with an INT 66 should be intelligent enough to not want to become any type of undead. |
#9carteegNov 18, 2003 19:04:52 | I can believe someone with a 66 intelligence would want to become an undead. INT 66 WIS 2 |
#10zombiegleemaxNov 18, 2003 19:30:18 | Damn guys I shoulda took this to the regular boards. This campaign world is not in Dragonlance. Sorry for waisting your time. Soth |
#11zombiegleemaxNov 18, 2003 20:21:48 | well, hrm.... actually, in 3rd ed, demiliches are even eviler than in second ed. Check them out in the Epic Level Handbook. Things can fly, got a evil bite, and some wicked powers. I'd personally be the floating jeweled skull myself. |
#12zombiegleemaxNov 18, 2003 20:21:52 | edit: stupid computer...... |
