Need info about Greyhawk material in Dragon.

Nov 20, 2003 15:25:19 I'm desperate for real Greyhawk material and I'm considering subscribing to Dragon because I've heard it's there.

What I want to know is: Does every issue have Greyhawk content? How good is this content in terms of quantity, quality, usefulness and faithfulness to the setting?

Nov 20, 2003 15:37:24 Actually Dungeon seems to hold more GH info than Dragon. First you have many adventures or modules call them what you will, that seem to be set in GH more often than not. Plus they've been publishing the Living Greyhawk Journal in Dungeon Magazine.

So if you want GH information you would probably be better off with the Dungeon subscription. Dragon on the other hand seems to contain enough general bits of info which could be found in any setting.

Nov 20, 2003 16:06:16 So far, the LGJ and greyhawk related critical threats and adventures have not been present in every issue of Dungeon, but Erik Mona (editor of Dungeon these days) has been teasing us with tales of increasing Greyhawk content

If you're not sure whether to subscribe yet, I'd just check out an issue or two at your local game shop or bookstore and go from there.

You can always check out some downloadable samples of the LGJ articles at www.wizards.com/greyhawk as well.

Paizo's website also has summaries of some of the current, past and upcoming articles on their website: www.paizo.com

Although it isn't in every issue, Erik has all but said that his plan is to increase GH content. Whether that means more pages or every issue is hard to tell. About the only thing I think we can count on is that it will at least be regularly in there.

If I had to hazard a guess, though, I would say every issue from now on would have SOME GH content in it, whether it be just an adventure module, or the LGJ or a Critical Threat (like Warduke). Quite frankly, it's worth subscribing to just on the basis that one of the up and coming issues (probably a few months off) is going to have one hell of an LGJ in it :D (not allowed to 'announce' it yet, but trust me, it'll be awesome and something you won't want to miss!)

Well, judging by the previous content, ie. the LGJ, I'd say it's pretty top notch stuff. For a list of what has already been in the LGJ, there's an index you can consult here.

Currently there are several people pushing for the back issues of the LGJ to be compiled in some way and sold. I for one would love to see an LGJ collection in print and would snap up three copies just for myself (one to use, one for players, and one as a collectors item).
