Yes, they let him and Sam Wood go about a year ago. The Draconomicon was the last book he worked on before being laid off.

These artists are no longer on staff at Wizards of the Coast, nor are any artists who used to work for the company. However, they are still freelance artists and have joined the community of talented artists that continue to contribute artwork to roleplaying sourcebooks and book covers.

Cheers,
Cam

The same reason they let go tons of people a couple of years back - to save money.

Who Hasbro can reap the benefit of their great art and contributions...without any of the nastiness that comes with having actual employees.

You know...like Health Benefits and Life Insurance and Stock Options and 401Ks and all that...

Guys, I know it sucks that Lockwood was let go, as well as others such as Jeff Grubb (a true shame, IMO).

Thing is, it's all business. The bottom line. Can WotC get these guys to write for them without covering health costs, 401K, etc.? Of course. Sean K Reynolds still writes for them, for example.

We can talk for hours about the business world, and how business decisions suck. Yet that just wouldn't get us anywhere.

I don't know about you guys, but I would rather talk about Dragonlance, and the fun and enjoyment we gain from it as fans. What's more important anyway? Behind-the-scenes decisions we cannot change, or a world that we all know and love?
