#1manindarknessNov 24, 2003 21:12:23 | I've got two questions about the current sphere of Krynn: 1) The world has moved. Have Krynn's planar connections changed? Is the world anywhere near Krynnsphere? 2) The dragon overlords came from somewhere. IIRC it was hinted that they came from other world, and that only some came to Krynn. Where is this world? How can the dragons in there not create havoc in Krynn? |
#2zombiegleemaxNov 24, 2003 21:19:32 | The dragon overlords came from some other random planet. When the Dark Queen took the planet and ripped it through the ethereal sea it probably passed by some crystal spheres. The dragon overlords came from a world predominated by dragons. Through some magical quirk the dragon overlords were drawn onto Krynn as it was being placed into its new crystal sphere. This seepage was due, in part, to the weakening of the linings of the dragons' sphere due to the wanderings of Khellendros. Skie, having struck out from the dragon homeworld with his impressive grasp of planar magic, travelled through the "Gray" (probably the ethereal sea, though a portion that has odd time effects) until he reached Krynnspace. This set the stage for the eventual Dragon Overlord invasion, and even let Takhisis device the plan to steal the world. I believe the gods have locked the crystal sphere from chhange to prevent other interlopers, but who knows. |
#3zombiegleemaxNov 24, 2003 22:30:39 | Takhisis had selected the location to which she moved the planet Krynn well in advance of actually doing so. Presumably the environment of the Crystal Sphere to which she moved it was deemed suitable for the planet (i.e. the sun wasn't to different and there weren't any other planets in the way). The alien dragons appeared to have some rudimentary grasp of Ethereal travel, with Khellendros (Skie) being particularly adept at it. This is unquestionably one of hazards of unrestricted access to the Ethereal "Sea" that the gods try to protect Krynn from. In all likelihood some current in the Ethereal probably flowed from whatever world these dragons came from to wherever it was Krynn was moved to. After depleting her strength moving the world, Takhisis lacked the strength to recreate the planar obstacles the gods had previously used to keep Krynn insulated from the planes, at least at first. Hence the dragons were able to cruise in at will. Unfortunately for them, Krynn's levels of ambient magical energy were extremely low due to the gods' absence, so the dragons (notably Khellendros) quickly found themselves unable to come and go from Krynn as they wished. As a side thought, it is possible that Khellendros's wandering took him into the proximity of the Demiplane of Time, which would have explained his aging while wandering the Ethers. Presumably the sphere Krynn now occupies is not close to it's original one, or else the gods would probably have found it fairly quickly. Likewise, it can't be in any of the other inhabited spheres because in that case local gods would have quickly found it and started trying to get the residents of Krynn to worship them (so Krynn is most definitely not in the same spheres as Oerth or Toril). Takhisis would certainly have chosen an uninhabited sphere. And had it not been for the great dragons that came wandering in through the Border Ethereal she would have had it all to herself. |
#4DragonhelmNov 24, 2003 23:10:48 | I've tackled this subject in my guide to Krynnspace. Here's a link to Beyond the Moon's Krynnspace page: Krynnspace There's a link that goes to my guide, but the site that hosts it is temporarily down. You may try it in the morning. |
#5zombiegleemaxNov 25, 2003 7:39:52 | so.... according to the timeline in there, krynn and now the three moons are still lost? |
#6DragonhelmNov 25, 2003 9:17:58 | Originally posted by Magus_Extreme Correct, Krynn remains in its new place in the universe. Krynnspace is eventually renamed Reorxspace. |
#7manindarknessNov 25, 2003 13:13:30 | And Reorxspace becomes gradually depopulated? The Krynn gods continue to attend the people in there? |
