Here's a question. Anyone know, offhand, why most of the Legendary Tactician's abilities are 'Supernatural' as opposed to 'Extraordinary'? Is the ability to inspire courage really Magical? Rallying troops? Retreating in good order, and only out to 30 feet in most of these cases? All of these seem more appropriately extraordinary abilities, to me. I dunno. Maybe it's just me. Alexander the Great: "Dangit! Someone negated magic in this area, and now my troops are falling into disarray and chaos! I am unable to command them!" I just don't see these abilities as that darn magical. Anyone have a good reason why they *are*, should be, shouldn't be, or whatever? |

Looking over the similarly-gifted Marshal class from the Miniatures Handbook, effects such as those possessed by the Legendary Tactician would seem to be better suited as Extraordinary. It's possible that the inspiration for these abilities was the bard, which is in fact a supernaturally-gifted character (bardic music is all supernatural or spell-like). It's all in the definition, really, and the Legendary Tactician has no supernatural explanation for its influential talents. Cheers, Cam |

Home rule that I use, they're Extraordinary. Christopher |

On the other hand, I went back and flipped through my 'Sword and Fist' errata, looking at the Warmaster, which is virtually identical to the Legendary tactician (a little less powerful abilities, but gets big honkin' castles for free). The abilities there are listed as Supernatural as well. It seems so strange that they'd decide the ability to lead people was solely magic-based. |
