#1OleOneEyeDec 02, 2003 20:45:39 | Of curiosity, does anyone use the expanded lands presented in Dragon Annual 1996? For you canon gurus, is this the official layout of Oerik? Further, what expansions did Chainmail make to the Greyhawk world? |
#2zombiegleemaxDec 02, 2003 21:13:53 | I don't own the Dragon Annual. If it resembles anything like the world maps on Canonfire, my guess is that these are official. Chainmail, I've been told, takes place somewhere in western Oerik. Hopefully someone here can give further info. Glorfinden |
#3MonteblancoDec 02, 2003 21:20:01 | I don't have the Dragon magazine map, but I considering placing Oriental Adventures' Marsahapa somewhere in the West. |
#4zombiegleemaxDec 02, 2003 21:24:55 | You can find the "geographically correct" , but unlabelled version of this map here: http://www.greyhawkonline.com/canonfire/oerthlat1.jpg -Gary |
#5OleOneEyeDec 02, 2003 23:12:42 | Is it just me, or does the Ocean of Storms resemble a dragon. The Celestial Sea is its head. The Pearl Sea a wing. And yes, the Azure Sea is a dragon rider. |
#6erik_monaDec 03, 2003 14:11:27 | I never noticed that before. That's pretty cool. Yeah, this is the "official" outline of Oerth, but the names given in the Dragon article are _not_ canonical (as mentioned in the article itself). The Chainmail lands are around the peninsula below the 45 N line on Gary's map, and includes that huge island off the landmass's western coast. --Erik Mona Editor-in-Chief Dungeon Magazine |
#7zombiegleemaxDec 03, 2003 16:23:48 | Erik, in another thread you briefly mentioned your old "Utter West" posts. I and several other Greytalkers, like Nellisir, retain copies. I believe you've been asked in the past if these TXT files might be compiled and hosted on Canonfire. If that request was never made, what do you think now? TheocratIssak, would this be something you'd be willing to make into a nice lil PDF? |
#8erik_monaDec 03, 2003 16:33:58 | As long as they were presented in the proper context (i.e. I wrote them before I had any kind of affiliation with WotC and they are by no means official), I'd love to see them posted on Canonfire. I can hardly even remember them, and the original files are long lost. --Erik |
#9zombiegleemaxDec 04, 2003 12:22:27 | "The Chainmail lands are around the peninsula below the 45 N line on Gary's map, and includes that huge island off the landmass's western coast." So if Chainmail is canon (is it in the view of WotC?), might one suppose that the exploration fleet from the Sea Barons made landfall somewhere around there? Or that the olven ships seen sailing east came from there or thereabouts? |
