#1factol_rhys_dupDec 04, 2003 20:42:15 | The latest issue of Dragon Magazine (which I don't get), I've seen, has old campaign settings returning for one bit of material each. For example, they have defiler magic and draconians, from Dark Sun and Dragonlance, respectively. For Planescape, they say they have "Exiled Factions." Anyone care to tell me what I'm missing out on in this issue? At least what it's about. |
#2Shemeska_the_MarauderDec 04, 2003 22:51:32 | *ponder* My copy hasn't shown up in the mail yet. Crummy NC mail service... My hope is it mentions the Factions as being ejected from Sigil's power structure post Faction War. At least to counter the slip in MotP that had them still in power. I wonder who wrote the article. I also wish Dragon would get back to me on my submissions. It took 3-4 months the first time, they asked for more, I provided, and that was back in August or so. Feh. |
#3kuje31Dec 04, 2003 22:57:24 | I haven't got my copy yet here in NY either, and I haven't seen any thread about it on ENWorld yet either.... Usually there is a thread on there before it arrives in the mail. |
#4zombiegleemaxDec 04, 2003 23:43:54 | I don't usually get Dragon but that definitely sounds worth it. As always, any remembrance of the setting is appreciated, at least in my mind. As long as they don't mess things up *sigh*. |
#5zombiegleemaxDec 05, 2003 13:44:11 | Wasn't the reason Wizards canceled Planescape monetary concerns? I remember reading somewhere that very few people were buying the Planescape books, and that was the reason the setting was canceled. On that light, WHY THE HELL DID THEY CANCEL DRAGONLANCE! Not that I care about that setting mind you. Oh, and on-topic, there were alot of past issues of Dragon Magizine that has useful planescape articles. Im talking from before 2000 at least.(April Fool's Factions and Destiers of the Planes come to mind) Maybe I should dig some of my old issues up and find some of them. |
#6kuje31Dec 05, 2003 14:55:20 | Originally posted by Sword_Of_Geddon Well WOTC doesn't publish Dragon any more, but some of the people who still work for WOTC publish articles in Dragon. And Dragonlance hasn't been canceled. WOTC put out the main campaign book awhile back and Soverign Stone (Larry Elmore's Company) have been putting out the rest of the new 3.5 Dragonlance sourcebooks. |

#10primemover003Dec 05, 2003 18:24:11 | Sure Paizo publishes Dungeon and Dragon, but the same team still works on the magazine. They moved wholesale over to Paizo's offices. It's basically just a subsidiary for wizards. |
#11zombiegleemaxDec 05, 2003 22:08:56 | Well Kuje, thats really unfortunate. Although the rules system of 3rd edition is better, nothing really matches the love of role-playing that TSR had. Wizards, especially since the takeover by Hasbro, seems mostly to be all about the money. This I understand, but, heck, its just not the same! |
#12zombiegleemaxDec 06, 2003 4:33:39 | *begins laughing* You honestly think that TSR was about the gaming? Well, it was, at first, but after a while, it was all about the money. That was why they released so much, and in doing so, flooded the market with so much that their lines biggest competitors were each other. That's when they began crashing, and were bought out by WotC. BTW, Hasbro, which owns WotC, don't care much about DnD. The money it makes is but a drop in the pond. |
