Well their are alot of minatures fans out there, but I am not one of them. Though I don't think it's a bad idea.

Well, the Giants of Legend set is supposed to celebrate the history of D&D. To me that suggests that at least one or two famous Greyhawk NPCs must appear in the set, alongside NPCs from other D&D worlds like Ravenloft, Dragonlance and F******** R*****. Maybe we'll get Mordenkainen, Iuz or Eclavdra?

The problem I see with making Greyhawk minis for this game is that there is not much visual representation of Greyhawk NPCs available. The artwork for lots of the old Greyhawk books is ultra-generic. There are few or no images to base minis on for half of Greyhawk's most famous characters. (There are exceptions.)

Also, I get the feeling that not many people at WotC are hardcore Greyhawk devotees, so I can't imagine anyone there trawling through a copy of Return of the Eight to find a picture of Iggwilv. I also can't imagine anyone at WotC tracking down a copy of LGJ 0 to find the definitive artwork for the Circle of Eight. (Of course, it would be great if I was wrong.)

I have a gun pointed at your nuts

Ok, back onto the slightly more serious side. If someone was going to put out a mixed all-sorts of the classic Greyhawk NPC's I'd sure buy them, well provided their nice looking.
While I swore off the soul-destorying hobby of minature collecting and painting years ago and minatures and DnD is for people who cant roleplay ;)
I'd probably get them for the collectors value of having something that for a setting I really like.

But I'd really, really like a 3.5 hardcover of GH sometime soon... lets face it, if WoTC can put out stuff like a "Draconomicon" of re-hased old 1E and 2E stuff and other 'mostly useless' accessories like "Underdark", which while it looked nice was extreamly limited use to most damn near everyone I know. Then they can well afford to put out a re-hashed 1E-2E material GH hardback that would get a LOT of use from a lot of gamers.

Its past a bloody joke really.

Cranky...

Heh heh, well I'd buy them just to see the results. Proper metal versions would be nicer so I can get them painted up properly but if it has the mighty GH seal on it I'll snap it up like the sad fanboy I am. :D

Where's the love for the xvarts? The single most underused monster in D&D.

They should make a whole box of them.

WOTC should give Reaper a license to make metal figures of AD&D & D&D classics. There is a picture of Mordie in a couple of 1e modules to use, same for Bigby. Make a Tenser figure, Iuz, Graz'zt, Iggilwiv, Ombi, Thrommel, Ivid, Gord, etc.

Considering the rate at which Wotc is releasing the new minis, I can't see how they would overlook a market like Greyhawk. Sure, it doesn' t have to be anytime soon (or even a large set), but they could easily slip it over the summer as a forty or sixty figure figure thing, or at least combine it with the other gaming worlds.

Greyhawk/Forgotten Realms/Eberron; all the figures would be more or less be compatible with other gaming systems (they're miniatures, after all). So far, I have found a use for all my minis.

Greyhawk minis, a great idea, and as Blomble said, they wouldn't be useless in another gaming system, either; you could easily get some great figs from any system they release minis for. I plan to incorporate a lot of the Dragonlance stuff into my own campaign.
