As far as campaigns go, I have never played in Oerth. I've played Dragonlance, Forgotten Realms, Darksun, Ravenloft (my personal favorite) and SpellJammer. The last few several campaigns that I've DMed in took place in a homebrewed world. It's been extremely satisfying to create this world in which the PCs make a real difference. The PCs from the first campaign there are some of the gods of the world now. But I digress . . .

Now that I have a wife and soon-to-be daughter, my time is becoming more precious to me. A friend suggested that I play in the Greyhawk campaign setting. Can anybody tell me what 3E products I would need to get to detail this setting?

Thanks in advance.

Your friend is a friend indeed, and with very good taste in campaign settings.

The funny thing about Greyhawk in 3E is that there's no real 3E sourcebook out there for it.
There is the very thorough Living Greyhawk Gazeteer - which gives a great overview (and quite a lot of details) about the history, geography and politics of the setting, but no rules setuff bar the levels and character classes of the rulers and some other NPCs. While the lack of rules is a strength IMO (because you can bascially take it and run it with any rule's system, if you so desired) YMMV.

Yes, definitely, start with the Living Greyhawk Gazetteer. It does provide a decent survey of the surface kingdoms (although it expressly excludes the Vault of the Drow, among other things). Beyond that, grab whatever you want (and can get your hands on) to flesh out the setting, especially for regions that you plan to use.

It sounds like Jeff's concern is time and that he does not have much of it. I think he is looking for pre-published adventures, of the Return to the Temple of Elemental Evil variety. Regrettably, that's all there is for Greyhawk, and that's a 3.0 Ed. product. But other publishers offer pre-written material that is easily adaptable. Banewarrens and River of Blood come to mind.

Speaking of editions, it would be helpful to know which edition(s) Jeff plays and DMs. Then we could really help.

So if you're looking for pre-written adventures that you drop into the setting, there is very little Greyhawk fare.

Good luck.
