#1bansheeDec 13, 2003 12:02:25 | There are three things I've been thinking on for Irda. 1) They are historically referred to as being long-lived. In "Raistlin's Daughter", they are discussed as being longer lived than elves. The validity of that story has been called into question.....however, I point out that the story has been used as justification for incorporating the Valin into the rules for the race. It's not referenced anywhere before that story. Additionally, the timelines of Krynn refer to the true ogres as being originally immortal. And, it mentions in Dragonlance Adventures, the first hardback, that many Irda currently alive remember the Cataclysm. Given that the last "official" update to their lifespans (Tales of the Lance) listed them as living 501-550 years, that seems a bit short. It would only likely be a few who are left that remembered it. 2) In 1st and 2nd Ed., Irda gained an extra spell of their highest level. This is not so in 3E. What about a feat, only available at lvl 1, which allows an Irda to "trade in" all his spell-like abilities, to gain +1 caster level and +1 lvl to spells per day as an arcane spell caster? 3) The Irda are mentioned as having beautiful voices. In "The Irda", in Dragonlance Adventures, in the 2nd Ed. DL monstrous compendium. DA goes so far as to say that Irda have voices that are unsurpassed by any race upon Krynn save the Sirens. Would it be overpowering to give them a +2 or +4 to Perform (Singing)? Just some ideas.... Banshee |
