#1zombiegleemaxDec 13, 2003 20:45:19 | Has anyone come up with their own cool details or anything else for the island of Rokushima Taiyoo? Very little has been published about this domain, save for a few monsters, and a couple descriptions in the Red Box and RL3E. It seems like a cool and very neglected place. |
#2zombiegleemaxDec 13, 2003 21:00:01 | well I always though Curse of the Undead Yoma would fit well in Rokushima Taiyoo. In all my Ravenloft Campaigns only one did my players reach the island throught a random mist diviation. So Rokushima Taiyoo isn't my speacialty. 4 Barovians, One Richelulot, *Where is the nearest Town?* Asian farmer *Random asian sounding sounds* Richemulian (team's leader) You heard the man, Back into the mist let's get out of this place, Then they managed to reconect with the core. |

I used some of the rules for fiends (reality wrinkel, pearl as his phylactery...) The final battle was quite like one of the good old Godzilla films. The kami/gods I used in my game were: Amaterasu (sungoddes, LG) Izanami (Goddess of Death and Destruction, CE) Uzume (Goddess of Joy, CG) Tsuki-yomi (Moongod, NG) Susanowo (God of storms and Oceans, CN) O-Kuni-nushi (God of Magic and Medicine, LG) Amatsu-mikaboshi (God of Evil, LE) Izanagi (Chief God of Creation, LN) Throw in papermoney, jade, bamboo, hungry ghost stories, dragondances, tea ceremonies, geishas and some fireworks and R.T. works quite fine, if your heros can overcome the handycap of being gaijin. |

Mainly, I approached Shinpi's character much as Lo Pan from the classic Big Trouble in Little China. Since their existence to others manifests as barely more than a bad dream. With a few exceptions, Shinpi may communicate only with outsiders and the supernatural creatures that inhabit Rokushima. I figure that while Shinpi has no power to affect the people of his domain, he is capable of commanding the spirits of the departed, though never in significant numbers, and only for a specific period of time, say for one full lunar cycle, before the spirit's ancestors come to claim their descendent. Also, I decided that the small population of oni of Rokushima lacked a strong central leadership, and may follow Shinpi as his army if he were to actually try taking command of them. Shinpi, however finds all such creatures as disgusting abberations, none of them worthy even to wet the blade of the lowliest of samurai. This gives the oni the drive to prove themselves worthy to serve the Phantom Emperor, though they are doomed to fail. That's all I can remember right now, but there were one or two other details. |
#5mortaviusDec 26, 2003 21:46:18 | I have had two games where a PC was playing a Samurai. One player actually came from Rokushima Taiyoo and the other was Mordentish but had been taught by a Ronin from the domain. In both games I used Mayonaka (see RL MMII) as a central enemy for the Samurai. I have often felt that Mayonaka would have made his way to Rokushima Taiyoo due to it's similarities to his homeland. The "western" atmosphere of the Core would probably make him feel uncomfortable, and he would seek out some stability. I have also felt that he would have pledged his services to one of the sons of Shinpi; the samurai devotion to one's lord would overule his arrogance I thought. |
