#1scipioDec 20, 2003 15:21:22 | I was up at a bookstore at my local mall today doing a little holiday shopping, and I actually found a copy of Knight of the Black Rose!!! I've been trying to get ahold of my own copy of this book since I first read it a couple years ago. I'll never again say the mall is useless. Now, if you'll all excuse me, I have some reading to do. |
#2zombiegleemaxDec 20, 2003 15:56:49 | Lucky you I found a Forbidden Lore box at a medieval store. I won't buy it though. It's to Sleep with Evil that I want!!! |
#3zombiegleemaxDec 20, 2003 16:43:08 | After four years of searching, I discovered an almost mint copy of King of the Dead in a used book store that I wasn't even going to go into. That and Tower of Doom took me forever and a day to discover, but they're mine now... ALL MINE! BWAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAA!!!! |
#4zombiegleemaxDec 21, 2003 6:13:12 | Originally posted by Scipio That book is a great read. Other Ravenloft novels I recommend tracking down: "Dance of the Dead," "Carnival of Fear," "Scholar of Decay," "To Sleep With Evil," and "Spectre of the Black Rose." |
#5scipioDec 21, 2003 10:25:49 | I actually left my name and number with one of the guys up there with instructions to call me if they ever manage to get a copy of Spectre in stock. As it is, they also had I, Strahd up there but I didn't have the money to get it. |
#6zombiegleemaxDec 21, 2003 15:48:47 | In addition to Mr. Millers suggestions, I'd like to add MORDENHEIM and HEART OF MIDNIGHT. Especially Heart of Midnight. peace, MSD |
#7zombiegleemaxDec 25, 2003 19:24:44 | Yeah, I JUST bought Kngiht of the Black Rose in perfect condition, it isn't made as nicely as Spectre of the Black Rose, but i can settle... |
#8zombiegleemaxDec 26, 2003 10:55:13 | About three months ago I got mint condition copies of Carnival of Fear and Death of a Darklord. |
#9james_lowderDec 26, 2003 15:13:04 | Originally posted by Scipio Spectre of the Black Rose is still "in print," the last I heard, which means it should be available through Amazon.com. Same with Knight and one or two other Ravenloft books. For the books that are out of print, try http://www.bookfinder.com or even http://www.half.com. You should be able to get most of the RL fiction titles at those places for reasonable prices. Cheers, James Lowder |
#10scipioDec 26, 2003 16:18:58 | Thanks for the tips. The book stores around here have a tendancy not to stock any of the good stuff, yet I saw like 30 books in the store about American Idol. |
#11coanDec 30, 2003 6:03:19 | Hmm there's stacks of old Ravenloft Novels at my store, all mint condition, all never touched. They just sit there not doing anything. I feel sorry for them. |
#12zombiegleemaxJan 05, 2004 11:15:47 | I reccomend Vampire of the Mists if you don't already have it. |
#13zombiegleemaxJan 07, 2004 15:41:21 | I really strange, In denmark we have a good pile of Knight- and Spectre- of the black rose, along with the two I strahd books. Most fantasy stores still have those, BUT ALL others are mission impossible to find. It seems reverse when people form the US is talking about them. |
#14james_lowderJan 07, 2004 16:24:06 | Originally posted by Voiceman No, that's actually typical. The Soth and Strahd books are the only ones still in print--that is, still available "new" from the publisher. All the others are out of print. Cheers, James Lowder |
#15zombiegleemaxJan 07, 2004 16:35:11 | Didn't know that. Thanks. Has there been any rumors about reprinting any of the old books??? I was extremly lucky half a year ago and got one untouched copy of Carnival of fear and tales of ravenloft, after a years scearch. But it is virtually impossible to get anything else. |
#16james_lowderJan 07, 2004 21:02:30 | Originally posted by Voiceman It's possible that WotC would reprint some of the titles, but I haven't heard any specific plans. Cheers, James Lowder |
#17zombiegleemaxJan 07, 2004 21:17:32 | Originally posted by James Lowder Didn't DL fans successfully petition to get a trilogy reprinted, or are the faries playing with my memories again? |
#18james_lowderJan 07, 2004 21:54:10 | Originally posted by Drinnik Shoehorn I hadn't heard about that, but it's possible. If anyone wants specific books to come back into print, or new books with a certain character or connected to a specific line or even from a specific author, they should write to WotC's book division, c/o the executive editor or the managing editor (addressing the letters to the titles are fine). Physical letters have more impact than e-mail. Be polite. Be specific. Use the address--the PO box address in Renton, WA--from any of their recent products. Cheers, James Lowder |
#19zombiegleemaxJan 07, 2004 21:58:33 | Originally posted by James Lowder Not that you have an ulterior motive for the RL line starting again. ;) |
#20james_lowderJan 07, 2004 22:39:57 | Originally posted by Drinnik Shoehorn Heh. I have no idea if I would even be invited to do another RL novel for WotC, or if I would say yes. I have a lot of other projects going right now, writing projects for which I hold copyright, so my interest in doing work-for-hire is not what it was five or ten years ago Cheers, James Lowder |
#21zombiegleemaxJan 07, 2004 22:41:37 | Originally posted by James Lowder Wish people'd hire me to write. Has to beat serving burgers for a living... EDIT: Come to think of it, ANYTHING beats serving burgers for a living. |
#22zombiegleemaxJan 09, 2004 10:44:38 | Originally posted by Drinnik Shoehorn yes. The petition ran on these boards (in the DL section), and the registration was over at www.dragonlance.com, in October last year, if I remember correctly. It got well over a 1000' hits, I supported it personally. I was a reprint the Elven- and Dwarven- nations trilogy. The elven nations trilogy is going in reprint in 2005. But we have heard nothing of the dwarfs. btw I am stil looking for elven nations triogy with the old covers, it is so damn hard to find. |
