#1omoteDec 22, 2003 18:49:24 | There have been many (but alas, not enough) GREYHAWK products produced over the years, but which one is the BEST of the GREYHAWK products? What GREYHAWK product (supplement / novel / etc.) best represents the world we all love? If you only had to pick ONE, which would it be, and why? .............................Omote |

It had the kick-ass map, and the basic description of the people, places and things of the Flanaess. Pour in your own imagination and you have the best campaign ever written. The Gazetteer acts as the Rosetta stone for the myriad Greyhawk campaigns that came after. You could always say to another Greyhawk DM, "This is where I started, and this is where I went, full sail for the boundaries of wonder and beyond the edge of the known." |

The Folio and Boxed set were nice, but they had various issues with editing and layout. The LGG is good, but it is better as a product for the well seasoned obsessive fan rather than a primer. Too much of the detail and hints are lost on newcomers. |
#4zombiegleemaxDec 22, 2003 20:18:03 | What Sam said. |
#5zombiegleemaxDec 22, 2003 20:37:09 | Well this is easy since I only have ONE product, the LGG, so I guess that's the one I'd choose. |
#6zombiegleemaxDec 22, 2003 21:46:51 | The original box set. Without question. |
#7ArgonDec 22, 2003 22:07:24 | I've got to go with Samwise on this one! FtA was the best to date. Though we can't ignore the 83' boxed set on this one either. After all this is were things got started. |
#8zombiegleemaxDec 24, 2003 11:40:02 | The 1983 boxed set was the ultimate and final word on Oerth by the creator. Thus it is supreme, there can be no other. :fight!: |
#9erik_monaDec 25, 2003 0:48:05 | I agree with the chorus regarding the original boxed set. To this day, I consider virtually everything in that set absolutely canonical. When a source conflicts with the boxed set, the boxed set wins out. It is the one product all elements of Greyhawk fandom can agree on, and it's the foundation of our entire community. --Erik Mona |

#11keolanderDec 25, 2003 1:12:44 | Hmmm..... good question. I would have to agree that the original box set from '83 would have to be the very best of the best....though G1-3 Against the Giants and D 1-2 Descent into the Depths/D3 Vault of the Drow would come next in terms of sheer Greyhawk fun! |
#12zombiegleemaxDec 25, 2003 11:57:13 | Loved the original boxed set, and loved FtA, but for me I'd say that The Temple of Elemental Evil was the best module to represent the world, since it was so EGG . . . - Wheggi |
#13mcbardDec 26, 2003 0:08:36 | My favorite Greyhawk product was The Village Of Hommlet (T1) [yes, the one that came out before being included in the expanded TOEE--I have the "orange" version]. For me, this little module defines not only Greyhawk at its best, but actually how the game of D&D should be run. It's the yardstick of the hobby. |
