One of several reasons I'm trying to come up with a good reorganization of things on athas.org ...

At the moment, my thinking is something along these lines
(May as well get some outside input while the topic is there)

  • / -- Meta-site information (things like staff, about the site and news archives)\
  • /releases/ -- our official product releases. Things that are PDF format, highly polished and illustrated and such.
  • /resources/ -- FAQ, short articles, information on using various other D&D products in a DS setting (IE, which PrCs are good from various supplements, and such) NPCs, ... things in here are generally web-based, rather than PDFs. Fan contributions could wind up here pretty easily. Some of the material here is considered (psudo-) official and will be supported by athas.org. Other information is strictly unofficial. The differentation will be explicitly tagged.
  • /community/ -- Submitted art and fiction. Links. Hosting for DS related files as contributed by anyone. Nothing in here is official.

This is what I'm thinking of at the moment. /resources is a little goofy on what's official and not, I'm afraid ... it's better than encoding the status of an article in it's path, however ... Marking the status of each item at the head of the page is probably a better reminder anyway.

Releases and resources should be clumped together on the same page, with official and finished products first, followed then by unfinished products, then fan based and semi-supported material. This would put all your actual DS resources in one spot for simplicity for those who find site navigation tricky, whether the material is official or not. Community could still be devoted then to art and stories (as well as links and such obviousness).

I personally would like to see an unofficial section again, but I'm sure you had a good reason for getting rid of it in the first place.
